Rifle isn’t that great on a warrior. I only use mine while getting to a target or kiting when my health is low. For melee in general PvE I prefer sword/axe. But it tends to be personal preference here. Lots of people like greatsword. And I’ve seen a number of warriors with axe/axe.

a warrior is traditionally a close range fighter. The rifle is nice for when you can’t stay close range, but if you can go close it is better to do so.

Aby,

It really depends on what you want your character to do. Rifle is a good single target ranged dps weapon. However most people only use it when they need a dash of ranged combat. (It’s Cripple and Knockback attacks are also nice.)

Here are some generally popular combinations:

Greatsword (2-hander) – This is probably the most common weapon choice since it provides good dps output and some nice mobility options.

Hammer (2-hander) – This is used on defensive AoE control builds. From my own experience with my Hammer alt character, you really need to have some kind of devoted build to make this weapon truly effective.

Mace/Shield – This is about as defensive as you can get as a Warrior. You got various ways of blocking and interrupting attacks, but at the expense of your dps output. If you like this weapon combination, you’ll be investing 30 trait points into Defense for the cool down reduction traits.

Axe/Warhorn – This combination bleeds the highest 1-hander dps output weapon with some nice utility and mobility options. As a disclaimer, the mega damage from the Axe #1 auto attack pattern only triggers if you let the computer automatically swing for you. If you prefer to manually hit the attack button yourself (to be able to stealthed mobs and attacking mobs that move slightly out of melee range), then you will short circuit the bonus damage on the 2nd and 3rd swings. (Due to the drawbacks of the Axe’s auto attack, I stopped using that weapon. However many people still swear by it.)

Sword/Sword – This is an attack style that focuses on dealing out lots of Bleed condition damage dots to kill your opponents. While it has great synergy with the Bleed potential of the Rifle, Swords don’t have a very good spike dps potential and you can run into issues with dealing damage in large Group Event encounters due to how condition damage stacks work.

We are Test Group F. (Don’t ask about what happened to the previous Test Groups.)

Double chop and Triple Chop work fine with manual activation. You just have to avoid spamming 1. The issue with manual activation exists with the rest of the weapon skills anyway. If you use 2 in the middle Double/Triple Chop it will get interrupted. Using auto attack doesn’t stop you from manually activating when you want to. Stealth isn’t something a warrior is has easy access to …

The main reason for not using auto attack is to avoid Confusion damage.

Here is my few on your request.

First off I see nothing wrong with you using a rifle, but you have to understand why I say this.

There are a lot of bosses in this game where melee will get you killed quickly. So this is how I manage my main Warrior (I have several but we will stick to the main atm)

I have him setup up with Greatsword/Hammer, but I carry with me both a rifle and a longbow.
When I participate in Maw I but up my hammer and get my longbow out. I am then for clarification using Greatsword/Longbow. I keep this setup till after the three shaman come out with the three portals on the other side of the map. I use the AoE from the longbow on the three shaman.
Once they are dead I head over toward the portals. As I head over I then replace my Greatsword with the Rifle. So again for clarity I am using Rifle/Longbow.
I use the rifle on the portals since it is a single target range weapon. Once the portals are down I then take on the Boss Shaman at range alternating between the two range weapons but mainly use the Rifle.

I actually find all the melee combinations all worth while in their own account and depending on my mood that day on which one I feel like using.

Out of all of them I would but my personal taste rating as follows (note this is how I like them it is not a statement of which is better then the other)

1) Greatsword/Hammer
2) Sword/Axe
3) Sword/Warhorn
4) Axe/Warhorn
5) Sword/Sheild
6) Mace/Mace
7) Axe/Axe
8) Sword/Sword
9) Axe/sword

2 through 9 I don’t list the secondary weapon group since they are really already listed. But with all I have at least 1 range weapon I have with them.

Warriors are those who choose to stand between their enemy and all that he loves or hold sacred

As previous posters have said, its a matter of preference, my main is a hammer warrior, great for AoE and CC, u stun them while guildies finish them off, so far I find it satisfying to deal 1k upwards per swing.

Longsword is also very nice, you have mobility and damage, and with good trait combos can make group events easy

Rife I sometimes keep one handy, the burst damage is awesome and sometimes can finish mobs with it, its also a must have to deal damage to mega bosses, I have also tried the bow, and its ability to create combo fields makes it also worthwhile.

Axes deal tons of damage, coupled with a warhorn you will be bleeding and making criticals left and right.

right now since Im grouping with small teams, I have found that using 2 swords can be lots of fun, you can easily with the right combination of skills and traits bleed foes to death, and put mobs to bleed like crazy, getting to 25 stacks of bleeding can be easily achieved, on the downside if you run in large groups all that bleeding can go to waste, I haven’t tried maces as much as I would have liked to, so cant comment much on them.

As you can see, warriors can be very versatile, and cater to different play stiles, so experiment with what you like and have fun!
and remember ranged weapons are mostly for back up, you have to specialize to make them very effective as main weapons , still, it can be done…

I am the wonder, I am the storm.

So, answering your question of where to get the best weapons, you’re most likely to find the best weapons on the Trading Post. You can filter the type of weapon you’re looking for and the level range as well, and then pick whichever one has the stats you like the best. Honestly, having the perfect weapon isn’t that important at lower levels since you’re just going to outgrow it in an hour.

As for the weapon combinations that are best, I’m sure you’ve gathered so far that there is a plethora of viable options for the warrior and that it mostly comes down to what you want to accomplish and personal preference.

One weapon that I feel is being neglected here is the shield, which gives a nice defense boost and some handy defensive skills by itself; but there are a couple traits that make the shield even better. One reflects projectiles you block, so a well timed skill 5 can tear ranged enemies apart with minimal effort. Another simply decreases cool downs (which are relatively high for the shield skills) and gives a nice defense boost. I favor using an axe in my main hand, and the shield’s inherent defense boost lets me focus my gear stats on offense.

The main thing you need to do as a warrior is play with different weapon combos at any chance you get since we have access to so many. You don’t need to have top notch weapons at lower levels; just play with each weapon you loot for a bit until you find something that works for you.

tl;dr Use the Trading Post to get the best gear for your level. (Low level weapons aren’t terribly expensive.) Shield is awesome. Play with different weapon combinations until you find something that you find fun. (Any weapon combination can be viable with the right gear and traits.)
