Guild Wars 2

I have not got myself this excited about a game since I was a teenager!! :P This is really embarassing.
I CAN POST!! WOOOO, ok sorry breathing But yeah just bought the game, after getting hyped about it last night and seeing it out of stock, it became available overnight and I was like kitten————— YEEAHHHH!

Aaaaaaaaaanyway, I played guild wars 1 extensively, tho I never finished it because of my altoholism and … well I just LOVED the class system, felt pretty limitless the way u could mix any class with any class.

Anyway I have been reading about the classes in this one lots and the ones that are REALLY speaking to me are: Mesmer, Guardian, Engineer. Probably in that order What would you suggest? I love how they gave Mesmers access to lots of weapons, even greatswords! Keeping well with the " being able to customise yr class lots" theme I hope! What would u guys suggest out of those? I refuse to play warrior just because it is usually in most games what I fall back on and I wish to branch out, plus it is the most commonly used class as it is! On top of that I love to play the long lasting survivalist warrior with medium damage so I am hoping Guardian will really work out well for me also. Thanks for yr ideas!!

Hehehe I only used the letter F, many of them and then many of the letter U to symbolise yelling out a certain naughty word followed by YYEEEAAAHHH as is customary to express one’s excitement. Looks like these guys are not just revolutionising MMOS they are also revolutionising how intelligent forum potty filters get xD LOVE the “kitten” to block out ALL profanity, honestly that is creating a world of hilarity on these forums

Haha good advice! tho u are preaching to the wrooooong person, I am probably the slowest at these games, especially when I enjoy them. Its not generally coz I am bad in any way I just… love the little things, love to take my time and get good at every aspect, most ppl have three lvl 80s in the space it will take me to get a class to 45 and a couple of alts to 20. Based on the reviews I watched so far and the vids… I know this game takes the time for the little thing, again EXCITEEEDDD!!!!!

Gratz!! This game is phenomenal. Enjoy the game and don’t blast through to 80 missing all the kitten scenery. What class are you going to play?

I usually main thief classes but went with an elementalist this time around. I had a human warlock in beta (because Asura wasn’t available) and it was boring. The demon saying, “What!?” all the time was a bit annoying and un-Gothic. Lines like that are great for brawlers, not summoned minions. Although I did like deathshroud. I also had a Charr warrior and it was alright.

I’m going to make a (Human) thief after my elementalist reaches 80 and gets some good gear and maybe an engineer Charr. DCUO has a rifle and gadgets combo, and engineer with a rifle equipped sounds like it’d be much like it, which is why I think engineer will be the star PvP class ^_^ Oh, and here you aren’t locked to a specific weapon too :D

Off topic, but Lady Wi was a character in my Asura story too (Order of Wispers), and she was a favorite in my human beta storyline, yay ^_^

If you’re more into melee, go with Mesmer or Guardian. Then I’d say the decision comes down to how much sPvP/WvWvW you plan on. The Mesmer is great in sPvP and decent in WvWvW,but lacks some better AOE capabilities. I can’t comment too much on the Guardian since I haven’t rolled one. My first profession was Engineer, and I see that as a pretty much completely ranged class (but a fun one).

I’ve never had any trouble in PvE with the Engineer, but the Mesmer can be very challenging and easy to die. The Mesmer just takes more work than most classes, I just like the mechanics and abilities.

Haha, I think for my first toon I have narrowed it down to Mesmer or Guardian. It’s a very hard choice to make prior to trying them because I have heard so many mixed opinions, im worried about the light armor on the Mesmer from both the perspective of Aesthetics and effectiveness. However I believe Charr will look decent in any armor just because I always loved them from the start ware-cats!

It will come down to how the clones work I think, some ppl have pointed out that they work poorly in pvp and have to be combined with the “vanish” skill or else the opponent will simply continue to target you.

IRL friend of mine asked me what I planned to roll as second toon.

Another Sylvari Mesmer of course. ;-)

I’d suggest mesmer as I have a 80 asura mesmer and adore the class. They have a big impact in combat as well.

The professions here really do all have their own flavor and style. Play all three to level 10 (it doesn’t take long), and you’ll know what fits best.
