This may need to be moved to the Game Bugs section, but I wanted to ask here first.

I have used a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage multiple rare piece of armor (all damaged) after I have upgraded to exotic from them. All that I can think of of the recent salvages I have done have not provided any ectos (they were all level 80 rares, damaged but not broken), way too many in a row for the Black Lion kit in my opinion.

I was wondering if the armor being damaged might have something to do with it?

I also heard that recently there was a bug where the BL kit was not salvaging any ectos, and Anet refunded people their kits. This was occurring for me during the time up to when I saw that announcement, and since then. The Black Lion kits I have are the ones you can get from the Daily Reward chest, I have not bought any.

I salvaged several rares last night with BLSKs, and I got several ectos overall. (Though there was the odd time I didn’t get an ecto while salvaging).

Sounds like you had a string of bad luck to me. Maybe someone else has seen this kind of trouble – but I personally haven’t.

Last night – I bought rare 20 amulets & got 5 ectos. 5 minute later, I then bought 20 more amulets and then got 47 ectos.

If it was a full set of damaged gear, that would be 8 items. Would be interesting to test & figure out though.

Just RNG it seems. /shrug

I don’t ever use bl kits anymore for salvaging ectos after my string of 15 fails in a row. I swapped to a master kit right after that and got 5/7 yield ectos and to this day the master kits still serve me better (and are far cheaper too). Something a lot of people don’t realize is ectos are on their own loot table, separate from the other crafting mats. They always have been so they act a lot differently. you’re wasting your money using those BL kits, stop it lol.

On average you will salvage 1.2 ectos per rare with a BLSK, but it’s still RNG so you just had bad luck.
