Black Lion salvage kits should be exempt from karma item salvage prohibition.

We ought to be able to use Black Lion Salvage Kits to get something useful out of our karma bought items after we replace them; particularly the sigils.
That is all.
For several days after launch I was happily breaking down karma items, and vendoring them too. Unfortunately the developers fix to exploits is to eliminate a key source of coin and crafting materials.

I hope that is only a temporaly solution. As long as it is that way I don’t buy any Karma stuff.

I got a copy of the Charr Ceasefire Agreement from a karma vendor after helping to promote peace between the two races. Five levels later, I couldn’t do anything but tear it to shreds; I was out of room in my inventory.
Emotional investment is hard.

It was really absurd that they did this.
Punishing the innocent for the crimes of the guilty.
It isn’t punishing the innocent as said innocent would just suffer in a different way. A few bad apples…
Besides, I got the impression karma items were never meant to be a part of the economy.

This.
You get karma for events, and spend it on items.
Not exchange it for extra gold.

Agree, yet you can buy recipes with karma, and the products of recipes go into the economy, another short sight?

Also you can use Karma to buy components for crafting in things you can then sell. IMHO make it an all or nothing. Make everything you use Karma for you soulbound including the items made from anything to do with karma items in any way or open it up so we can do salvages and whatnot on the items.
What’s that ArenaNet? I can’t salvage my gems from all my accessories, rings, and amulets because they were karma bought? Thank you for telling me this when i put them in!
They really need to find a solution to this, I want at minimum to be able to get my gems that cost ~60 silver each back out to reuse!

People found small mistakes and exploited them to the tune of tens of thousands of items, generating hundreds of gold. Anet put in measures to fix it before long term damage was done to the game wide economy.
A more polished fix is probably being designed that doesn’t involve inflating the price of karma items and limiting their usefulness.
If your hull springs a leak, you do whatever you can to stop the water and then worry about patching it up and making it pretty when you get back to shore.
Blame the kittenholes that had to grossly exploit something in an attempt to get over on other players. They are the reason we get nice things taken away. Just have to hope a little less heavy handed solution is on the way now that they have time to come up with one.
