Block Function

It should say that you are offline to that person, making it unable for them to whisper you
But there is no way to not see their messages in guild chat and such?

That I am unsure of :/
Alright, well thanks man.

Blocking someone does not prevent them (or you) from seeing their /say, /team, /map, /guild, /party, /squad. It does, however, block them from /whisper’ing you, even though you can /whisper them.
That actually has not been my experience. I have blocked people in game and have immediately stopped seeing their chat, though I was told by others that the person was still talking. Has this functionality been changed?

^— I’m pretty sure blocking should remove all instances of them talking from your vision. Otherwise the feature would be remarkably useless…
When I blocked someone I did not see their messages anymore until I unblocked them.
but I don’t like blocking because then you can still see conversation that is directed at them and that they are a part of, then someone could get all curious and unblock for the sake of finding out what it’s about. for all they know the blocked person could be talking trash. =____= Blocking cannot be perfect in my eyes though because… so much needs to be done to satisfy me so I just don’t use it. :F
When you block someone you block all map and local chat messages as well as pm’s from that person.
It does not block messages in chatchannels you can leave yourself. This include guildchat, partychat and squadchat.
In case of guildchat I must say that is a bit of annoying.

VERY annoying and contrary to the idea of blocking. Is there a workaround, maybe?
If you block someone or they block you, can you see them on the game when you do a search for them?
I’m not sure what you mean with search for them.
If you blocked someone you can go to the blocked persons windows and you can see if he/she is online or not. You can’t see the character name or any info bout his/her location. Though why would you wanna keep track of someone you dont have a desire to talk to.
If someone has blocked you, you have limited ways of knowing this. The only way is when someone is not reacting to you, but reacting to people reacting to you.
So when someone blocked you and is in your friendslist you can see if they are online and where they are.

Is there a way to make it so you can’t see someone online? There’s one player who I knew irl and had disturbing encounters with, to put it lightly. Seeing the username causes me unpleasant, anxious feelings, even fear. I wish I didn’t have to see the name in the Guild list when he/she is online, but I don’t want to be unfair and ask for the guild leaders to kick him/her just because of the issues between us.

You can’t see the character name but you can go to the blocked window and it still shows you the map/dungeon/instance they are in.
As to why they would keep tract of someone, because they don’t want to meet up with them even by accident. If someone has a stalker, they likely don’t want to go to the map that person is in.
Can the person I blocked get into my party/squad by using LFG tool?
Does the block function reflect LFG tool at all?
This thread is over two years old; it’d be better to just make a new one. To answer your question, though, blocking someone doesn’t keep them from joining your party or squad.

Yes they can get in to your instance and to your squad/party if you are using lfg-tool. The only thing you are blocking is the communication between the two of you, everything else is the same.
