Hello to everyone who can use bows!

So, I have a question for those of you who are experienced enough to know different longbow models in game. I’ve tried some of models already (just basic ones, not some expensive skins), and noticed that every nice model has awful black string which usually does not match the design of the bow at all.

I’ve read here on the forums that some bows do have unique beautiful strings – for example, Kudzu bow (it used to have a usual black string, but then devs changed it for better), and I also heard about Plasma longbow skin having a unique yellow string, too. That’s all I know for now.

I don’t have enough money to buy all the bows to try and see their strings, and the preview doesn’t show strings at all, as well as I don’t see bow strings on other characters – only on mine. So, could you tell me, please, which longbows do have beautiful strings instead of the standard black ones?

Shows all the bows and their bow string. Storm Bow has the same string as kudzu. The string on plasma longbow makes it look a bit like a rubberband.

Thank you a lot for the link! I was afraid images on Wiki were a little outdated, but if they are true, I will look through the gallery thoroughly.

Wow… Most of the bows do have those awful strings after all, except a couple of them… How can people just be ok having such wonderful bows with strings that ruin the design completely?

I wanted to play Sylvari Ranger with Dreamthistle longbow so much, but now… Oh, I am not even sure I will be able to look at this beautiful bow spoiled by the string all the time right in my camera.

Well they are bows that have a bow string which looks like a bowstring. There was also a time when bows just had no string.

Exactly. I just dropped 450g at the TP to get the Chaos Bow skin. A skin I have been wanting for ages. I must have previewed the darn thing over 500 times making sure it was the bow that I wanted to complete my outfit. NEVER ONCE while using the preview skin function did it show the god awful black string, yet as soon as I equipped it, there it is. I was soooooooooo piisssed off I screamed NOOOOOOOOOOO and my kid came running downstairs to check on me.

Yes, I get that in real life bows have bow strings. As stated above by Khisanth. But where have you ever seen an actually bow in real life LOOK LIKE A CHAOS BOW? Let me keep my fantasy bow looking like a fantasy bow and get rid of the ugly line that ruins the entire look.
