Hello everybody,i have one of the strangest issues ever: My brain keeps dumping decisions whenever i wish to play a RPG game,so i’m asking a little help to GW2’s community.
Long story short: in almost 1 year none of my toons reached level 80 XD
That’s because i can’t decide my identity…i already asked some tips to decide, but it’s an infinite cycle…and i’d like to end it,now, while my PC is broken so i can reflect a bit.
Now,the kitten’s got real: what to choose? I’m looking for serious tips, wich can eventually help me decide…
So,this would be my main,Asura,of course, and i’d use such character for PvE,WvW and a bit of PvP,i don’t care about how hard it is to reach level 80,what i care about is the late game, when the real kitten shows up.
So…Mesmer: It’s fancy,disturbing,butterflying…and slow…
I like the feel of the mesmer in my hands, how abilities react, they’re fast and reactive…however the lack of swiftness is a big pain in the kitten, and seeing how the mesmer is a popular hate,i can smell nerfs, slow nerfs, turning a dangerous mesmer into a butterfly spammer…that’s what hold me down…
Now,the Engineer: fancy(ier),doesn’t give a kitten and can do about anything…however that “anything” stops him from excelling,no weapon swaps, turrets aren’t powerful enough and kits reclaim an utility slot.
I’m fine with that,i love kits, however tht’s always the same appearance and…the stunbreakers? Whenever i used my engineer,i rocked until a nasty stun managed to smash my awesome hitbox, turning me into dead flesh.
So,kits are fun but 1 stunbreaker is needed…what about elites? the mortar ain’t great, neither the elixir X,however the supply drop is really good.
The necro: someone told me “just pick the class you’d like to be!” and i’d like to be a necro…a forever alone guy with a few minions,a few marks in mah pocket and shiny black light (wut?)…however the necro disappointed me.
Condition control is amazing, really,if a guardian uses the all boons shout then you’ve already won, however, physical damage sucks, the axe is awkward, the dagger isn’t the best option either and many abilities just feel wrong.
The DS is a half-fail too: it’s boring, and only works well once, then good luck getting back your life force :s
What hold me from scrapping the necro are the cool animations it has and the condition control it provides.
The ranger: i like bows,i like pets, seems all right, however the utilities really feel wrong, really wrong.
Traps feel awkward, spirits don’t even move without a grandmaster trait and other classes support much better than a spirit build ranger.
Apart from that (totally not a little issue, lol) weapon’s abilities are really cool, except the axe wich i don’t like and the sword’s 1,i mean, why does it snare you?
The elementalist: it’s abilities feel great, probably the best support class, can tank alot and also do high damage…the thing that holds me down is that it doesn’t have weapon swaps, the attunements are all from the same 1(or 2) weapon(s) and so it lacks the engineer’s choose, with the payoff consisting of 3 free utilities(or 4).
What really holds me is the D/D weapon set: that’s just much more powerful compared to other weapon sets,it offers much more versatility and it’s much more used, however this means the “flexibility” gets dumped into D/D bunker build with cantrips as utilities :s and the conjured weapons are so bad
Last: Warrior and Guardian.
The guardian is te go-to class right now,it has damage, tankyness and condition removal, can support, burst and defend at will and it’s special abilities are just too good.
While the warrior doesn’t have the condition damage the guardian gets for free,it has much more cc (mace+shield…) and can support using banners, wich can also be used to “gift” swiftness to who doesn’t have it (hiya mesmers!) while providing good AoE buffs.
Stances feel awkward, most weapon abilities are boring a shouting gets repetitive.
So,these are my concerns about the professions in this game, right now i’d say “mesmer or engineer”…but things change and i’ve been changing mind for over 10 months,so i only scrap the thief, for it’s lack of versatility.
If someone who has a nice experience can give me tips about choosing,i’d be glad to read such tips…cause… kitten 10+ months?!?
Thank you for reading, sorry for the wall of text.
