Does anyone have any idea how to get the Broken Equipment achievement done?

One of my guildmates hopped on a low level toon, took off all but one piece of their armor and ran off to a (much) higher level zone. Ran into a mob of higher-level foes and just let their toon be killed. Rezzed at a wp, rinse and repeat until the single piece of armor broke. Ran to a repair NPC and got the achievement when the armor was fixed.

They chose a lowbie toon so the wp fees wouldn’t hurt their bank as much

And repair. Also, you get free waypoints if your bank and inventory don’t have enough money to waypoint you (but only free for the nearest waypoint).

I’m having the same issue with the broken equipment hint. I’ve had broken gear multiple times but this hint won’t trigger. I’ll have to try taking one of my low lvl toons out and trying this.

Un-equipping and re-equipping the broken piece of armor seems to help. Some people have said it takes a while to register though (30+ tries for some).

Personally nothing worked for a lot of my characters. Literally tried everything for months. Only yesterday I was messing around on a alt I rarely played and got broken equipment in a story instance. While the hint didn’t trigger immediately after I re-equipped the first time it worked finally.

Dunno why it decided to register then as opposed to the multiple times I’ve gotten broken equipment since launch. :/

I’ve broken every single equipment on my toon and the hint doesn’t pop up. Am I missing something here? Please help guys, thanks.

Could it possibly be the aquabreather blocking the achievement ?

The Aquabreather’s breakable too? I guess I’ll give that a try tomorrow. Will post my findings here tomorrow. Thanks Third of Five.

I don’t know that it is, but it seemed like a logical guess, hope you get the chieve soon.

That was the last hint I needed for that achievement. When I realized what I missed, I took off all of my armor except for my back piece and ran around Orr. Didn’t take long and only had to repair the back piece.

Edit: There’s another achievement beyond the hints for breaking all of your gear? What the deuce?

Edit v2: I’m not losing my mind. It’s only the hint. Meow is dead on. You only need to break 1 piece of armor. Can’t remember if I received that hint when I rezzed or when I repaired. I’ve only let that 1 piece break on me. I’m too OCD to let armor stay damaged for long.

That did the trick buddy. Unequip all gear except for the back armor and then have that one break. Thanks man!
