I have the worst timing.
I finally hit 80 today on my first character, en elementalist.

I was going to check out WvW for the badge exotics, maybe a weapon, but of course its down until tomorrow probably.

So I am wondering if I am better off buying exotic gear now or after the update tomorrow?
Are prices expected to go up or down?

Ive only got enough gold for 1 set probably.

I do not have HoT so won’t be able to use any new vendors or content there.

depending on stats, remember you can get full exotic armor sets in Orr from Karma Merchants. check out the wiki to find out if the one you want is available out there.

Badge prices in WvW shouldn’t change.(just to be clear)

I would just wait and spend your badges and get the stats you want…save your gold for runes/sigils you may want to swap out on the armor/weapons you get…as some of those can get pricey…

I have enough karma for 4 pieces, probably enough badges for 1, though I haven’t seen the prices for level 80 since I can’t go there now and I wasn’t 80 when I checked yesterday.

I was wondering if market prices are expected to change much, if there is newer better gear with HoT maybe that will lower prices on existing gear, or if there will be increased demand for existing gear which may drive up prices.

Market prices are going to change, but it’s impossible to say if they are going to spike up, crash down, go topsy-turvy, or…what. We won’t know until tonight.

Here are my speculative recommendations:

• Hold off on spending karma or badges — you might find better uses for them.
• Spend half the gold (you set aside or expected to spend for exotics) on custom buy offers and save the other half — this way, you’ll get a few pieces and have some gold left over to look after the patch hits.
• Sometime “tomorrow,” post an update here and I’m sure some of us reading the forums will be able to offer advice or help.
