Guild Wars 2

A friend of mine already plays GW2 since lauch, but he can’t buy the expansion himself (No credit card). Is there any way to gift the expansion to another account? Or I need to buy it from the site and forward him the key? Can he unlock the expansion buy using that key even if he already bought the base game at launch?

You could in theory buy the key, and give him the code, but im not 100% sure how well that would mesh with ArenaNet’s terms and conditions.

You don’t need a credit card to buy HoT, it can be done with a Debit card, which everybody is given (In the UK at least.) upon making a bank account, so he should be able to use that.

I’m from Argentina, and our debit cards don’t work for online purchases, I can only buy it with a credit card.

My question was mostly to see if the key that I buy from the site can be used with an already active account (not F2P).

I think you can buy it via the website and give him the code. I got advised to do this by CS when I asked for my situation.

Same, a guildy and I went in together to purchase it for another guildy who was not going to be able to get it anytime soon.

CS just said to forward them the email, OR you can put their email in when you do the checkout and it will send them the code directly.

I can verify it works, as I did this for this friend and for my daughter.
