Am i the only one getting upset with how close the camera is to my character?
It is fine when playing a human or an asura, but come on, it is just unbearable how much screen space can norns take. It’s very cool that we can bind a key to look behind us (even if the angle can get akward from time to time), but it’s not enough.
It would be so much better if we could increase that distance to increase our vision of the battlefield, because once again the current camera is way too narrow.

I’m well aware that Anet still has a lot to work on, and that it might not be a priority, but that’s not like it is a major mechanic change, thus, they could fix it rather quickly (don’t mind terrain collision at 1st, we have them with this kitteny camera already).

Please speak your mind out and support the matter, because Anet will probably only look into it with enough players asking for it.

Don’t forget that everyone is concerned, and that if the current camera distance is at your liking, you will still have the freedom to set it as close to your char as it is, but I know for one that it is bothering both me and my friends, and probably a lot of others, so if you want it, ask for it! If you don’t need it, ask for it too, it’s good karma!

You mean in cramped situations? Because in the open you can zoom out quite a bit (default is mousewheel down). If that’s not enough zoomed out for you I don’t know what you expect? MOBA style top-down view from the clouds?

Can’t pull as far back as some other MMO’s, but I’ve adjusted to it fairly quickly. One thing I do miss is the ability to adjust the field of view. That’s one thing that I still find annoying.

Increased cam distance is the only option I currently miss in this splendid game..

it used to be further out then i think they broke it during patches, atm after awhile it gets really sickening, its far too close and when your doing jumping puzzles it annoying at best.

i assume it will be fixed hopefully soon, since it was better in the past and in beta.

I do mean out in the open, and as i said, it might be enough for you if you are playing Human, Asura or Silvari since they are quite small and do not take a lot of screen space.

Anyway, as stated above you can’t zoom out as much as in other mmos, and yes, it would be nice to be able to watch the action from a top-down angle, which would allow players to work on their game awareness (I’m mainly thinking of positioning/Line of sight in PvP).

Yes, the camera should be able to be zoomed out quite a bit more. The current camera zoom setting doesn’t allow for proper situational awareness in pvp situations. A few players may enjoy looking at every kitten in their character’s armor, but many prefer to see what’s going on around them without having to constantly pan the camera around. The current camera settings make it feel as though I’m playing a bad 3rd person shooter.

It’s fine, you don’t need any more zoom

If you want to suggest a more zoom out factor, better post it in the suggestions forum. They’re strict when it comes to suggestions, feedback, bug reports, etc. Post it in the proper forum = gets attention more quickly.

Just saying, since I agree with the zoom suggestion :p
