Q:
Can Intra-Map Waypointing Change Map?
A:
Can it happen? Maybe, if there was a glitch or something during your travel. Though that falls under the category of “that wasn’t supposed to happen”.
Once you’re in a map, your spot is locked in until you leave the map by wp-ing out of it, jumping into an instance, accessing WvW/PvP, random disconnect, etc.
So yeah, it’s safe to use WP’s within a map and not worry about being booted off the map (under normal circumstances, of course).
Okay, I get your point about a ‘glitch’ but if it’s not supposed to kick then it seems otherwise it’s safe.
Thanks.
The one time that WPing inside a map is supposed to boot you is if there is a new build that hits the one hour countdown (or an emergency hotpatch that everyone has to get pronto). Under those circumstances anything that gives you a loading screen will dump you out to the launcher to get the patch. In fact I think you’ll be forced out when the hour is up, I’m not sure because I almost always leap to get a patch asap.
But you’ll know, because you’ll get the big yellow system messages about the new build while you’re playing. That lets you pick when to go get the patch, as long as you don’t forget and wp/zone.
