Guild Wars 2

So I just rolled a Ranger, but I cannot rename her pet. I see it says K open the pet tab, I verified K was bound to that, my K obviously works, but no pet tab opens.

I just want to rename my pet and see my pet tab. How do I do this?

Probably level gated.

New level gated system apparently causing some confusion.

Oh wow… I can’t name my pet until a certain level? They gate something so trivial? That’s just silly. Jeez, I thought that might have been a bug or something, but okay.

Well, this way the new player has time to learn (if they read ranger forums) that the name won’t stick if you load a different pet anyway …. I’m sure that wasn’t fixed in the patch or there’d be Hallelujah Choruses flooding the forums.

This is a (possibly unintended) result of the new levelling process.

You don’t get access until your profession mechanic, which for rangers is the pet panel, until level 5. This is supposed to be so new players aren’t confused by having too many buttons but the fact that the entire thing is hidden means you also can’t rename pets or switch to a new one (even though you can tame them).

I’ve suggested before that it would be better to have the panel visible from the start and just the F1 – 4 buttons hidden because being unable to name my pet really frustrates me (and even better to have F1 and F3 enabled from the start) but I’m not sure if anyone from Anet even saw it.

I am releveling a ranger and thought this was hilarious. Also, word of warning, don’t you dare try and do underwater combat at low level. You get no weapons or skills. GG

You get #1 skill, but no automatic weapon. You just need to go buy an underwater weapon is all. Think of it like any other weapon in the game.

Naming your pet is to much to learn for your first 100 hours of playing on a ranger!!! … everybody knows that..
