Wayfarer Foothills heart “Help Lodgekeeper Kevach” has a task where you help a gent named Hodir catch frozen kegs.

I have yet to do it or see someone do it. Is it possible?

Not as far as I know, but you can also retrieve the kegs from the nearby cave (there is a skillpoint down there as well).

Yes, I managed to catch a good few just yesterday, missed a good few at first tho..

How’d you pull it off?

I did it once. I think it has to be a direct hit but most of the time it misses totally or near-hits. They should put a marker on the floor or a shadow as it gets closer. As it is, I would just ignore this method of progression from now on.

It’s not easy!

It seemed like the barrel was landing in 2 different places on left and 2 on the right of the circle you’re standing in so as soon I noticed which direction I headed that way and managed to catch them by just standing there.

I’ve seen maybe 2 or 3 people catch a couple, but every single time I’ve tried it, the thing could smack me right in the face and I can’t catch it, so idk what criteria the game is looking for to qualify as a “successful catch”.

Evade in to the keg as it’s about to land, if it hits your character it counts as a successful catch.

It’s not easy, but it feels great once you can do it.

Nice. I hadn’t thought to try this. I kept trying some combination of guessing based on his arc or aiming the camera into the air and hoping I strafed under it correctly.
Neither of these presented me with any success, of course.

It takes awhile but once you get the hang of it you should be able to catch some.

So you don’t need to press F key? Cause at the wiki talk page they mentiond pressing F key…

I don’t think anyone is doing this to complete the heart lol? When it just is so much easier to do the other stuff – and faster. Cause that “it takes a while” until you get the hang of it is a bit long… I mean 30+ minutes and not catching a single one is a bit hard.

It’s a long time since I did this one – but I remember having trouble figuring out how to get the NPC to actually throw the things.

The catching wasn’t too difficult though.

No. Only using keyboard to move(WASD). Managed to catch one with luck. But can’t catch more…

Seems it needs like 50-100 tries to catch one. Pretty hard. I’m always a bit near the location where the keg lands and the char does not seem to catch it(and moving directly to the landing location is a bit hard cause you only know it when he is already nearby and then he is landing 0.1 second later already ha ha).

People that manage to catch them often must be pretty good and have trained for hours.

I don’t think anyone can catch 5 in a row without missing one. Ha ha.

Edit: For some reason it worked now… much easier. I don’t know why. It seems you need to be “on the move” I tried to move to where it lands fast and then pressing som key or pressing nothing(I don’t think you need to press a key).

This never worked.

Jumping also didn’t work.

While I kept moving – only moving no jumping or pressing F(not stopping to press the move key) I even catched then when I was a bit more far away from where they landed(moving to far).

Oh! I see – Yes, you just have to get under it – nothing more.

Trying to stop and hit ‘interact’ would certainly make it a lot harder.

It seemed like the keg would hit me point-blank and still explode… Maybe i should finally get some excerise >__<.

Me: ‘why can’t I just place a portal under the kegs, and the exit there?’

For me this works always if you face directly towards the keg.

you mustn’t catch where they land, but rather, more in front of it to grab them out of the air.. it’s really annoying, but after a while you can catch 1 in 10 kegs

I have a fairly high success rate when I stand just inside the leading edge of the circle.
