Can you have 2 accounts?

Sure you can have 2 accounts with 2 different e-mails, and log them at same time, but for that you need to buy 2 copies and register each one.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

Thanks very much. And sorry for another question. If I make sure the 2nd account is on the same server, can they all be in the same guild?
This seems like a great way to get more character slots and more bag slots given that it’s on sale for 24.99 right now.

Sure you can add both in a guild.
If your computer is good enough, you can run both accounts in the same PC using a virtual machine.
With 2 accounts it will be for all purposes 2 different players, the only difference you’ll be both players

I had 2 Guild Wars 1 accounts. I ran them on 2 separate computers and logged in simultaneously like that. One was my main account and the other was primarily storage, especially for my characters in Presearing (the starting part of Prophesies) as that area had no access to storage.
If you use one for storage you will be fine. If you try to play them simultaneously using a macro program then you need to be very careful and research ANet’s rules as it would be easy to get your accounts banned for botting.
Macros are for nubs.
Real men play 2 elementalists at the same time and make them combo off each other’s fields.
Yes you can
If you can, can you launch two copies of GW2 at the same time with your two different accounts logged in?
You can’t do that out of the box but there is a program for that http://www.insanecoder.net/?page_id=207.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
To approach the question from a slightly different angle the only thing you can’t do is use a macro program to control both at once. It’s part of the 1 key press = 1 action rule.
If you’re logged into two accounts and controlling one the other one should be standing still or running in a straight line on auto-run. If you set it up so both move, fight, loot etc. together then that’s against the rules and could get you banned.

Which is a kitten shame, since I want to RP 2 of my characters at the same time. sigh

How on Earth would you RP them ‘at the same time’? Would they do exactly the same thing at the exact same second? If not, then you would be taking turns, which is just fine.
Every time you push a key, only one character should react. That is the rule.
That’s why you should get two computers and push keys on both. ;-)

That would be awesome (and against TOS maybe?)..imagine you having 50 accounts…you could run a full zerg ON YOUR OWN LOL

In the system I would propose, the Follower character (one extra only) would auto-follow, and only use autoattack, the same as NPCs. You would be able to select which of the Follower’s skills would be its autoattack. There would be a toggle settable for which name was used during chat. To swap characters, you would have to return to character select screen and assign your Leader and Follower.

Which sounds to me like it could be banned for botting as it would be performing actions without you directly controlling it. If the computer program is controlling it and making it use it’s skills and move around, then isn’t this botting? Your control of it is one step removed, not direct.

Which is why I wouldn’t do it, unless it was a mechanic designed into the game
I just want the extra account for more Character slots and more bag space. I don’t intend on playing them at the same time. So it all looks good from my end.
I guess is there’s a really hard skill challenge that one of my characters can’t handle, and I can’t get help from anyone, I could fire up the other account to help out, but that will probably never happen once we have Megaservers.

… why not just get more character slots with gems?
You can convert ingame gold to gems and buy the slots directly for free. And this way the achievement points, etc are all shared.

It’s only 24.99 for 5 more slots and lots of bag space. It seems like it’s a slam dunk while it’s on sale.

If you want to I suppose there isn’t actually a drawback aside from it being impossible to transfer account bound items.
At 10g for 112 gems (my current price) it would take 70g for a character slot. I only have 40g right now, and I want to level my characters, not concentrate on making gold.
BTW: What’s the maximum number of character slots you can have on one account?

64 I think. Though there really isn’t a reason to use more than 40 (one per race per class).
For 1 silver you can open up a personal guild and then spend influence to get storage slots. You can buy influence from a vendor or farm them yourself. Iirc, 8 gold will buy you enough influence for the 50 slot storage. You can’t put in soul/account bound items but it can hold anything else. Some people also like to separate the gold they have from the bank so they aren’t tempted to buy things. It can be used for that also.
One warning though. If your account is ever hacked and they steal from your personal guild storage you will not get any of it back. Only accounts are eligible to be restored.

Thanks Astral. I already have a personal Guild with Bank just opened up on my first account. That’s the guild the ones from the second account will be in too.

BTW: I decided not to do it. I thought you could only have like 8 slots on one account, but when someone told me the max was 64, I decided just to keep adding to the one account. I bought another slot with some gems I already had over the weekend ankitten ow sitting at 8 slots. I need to get those to 80 before I get more

So you paid £17 for 1600 gems, to buy 2 slots… instead of getting 5 for £17.99.
Sounds like a good deal

Nah, I bought 2000 gems for other stuff mostly (bank stuff when it was on sale) and had 720 left over. I couldn’t afford a character slot. However, they went on sale at 640 last weekend, so I could afford one
I will use in game gold to buy gems from now on.
