Most of the dungeons are just stupidly hard- literally the only word I can come up with for 99% of the dungeons is “broken”. One in particular is the 1st choice in Caudacus’ Manor explorable. When you go down into the caves there’s literally 20 enemies in each room, most of which are silvers, and you can’t even pull one or two at a time- you need to pull all of them. When they get in range, which they always do, they kill you instantly because there’s 20 of them attacking you. We’ve had to cheese our way past it, but we’re wondering if either Arenanet’s dungeon team is just really bad, or we’re just not seeing some obvious method to getting past the 20-man silver elite mobs.

If there is something we’re missing, then I’d like to apologize to Arenanet’s dungeon team, if not, you guys are really, really bad at making dungeons fun, challenging, and playable all at the same time. Because there’s literally nothing within the realm of game mechanics that can get you through some of these explorables, and even if you can get through them, it takes HOURS of waypoint zerging in your underwear so you don’t pay repair costs.

Haven’t done MC yet but I’ve done AC explorable and every time its like “OMG THIS IS TOO HARD” and the groups that stick with it and learn the encounters finish it.

I could change my mind when I get higher but frankly… in a world of MMOs with easy dungeons I’d love for them to keep these difficult.

I know the place you are talking about and my group had the same problem. We were all on TS and all of us were cursing. Why? Beccause it looked like focusing 1 target and praying for it to die before the rest of mobs got to us. It was our 1st explore mode and it fast and fun till that place. When we got to it after 15 min I wanted to throw myself out of window.
I think 1 problem they have is balancing dungeons because some parts are too easy, you just need to do 1 dodge and you can stand in one place spaming skills, and some parts are almost impossible to do.
I appreciate that dungeons are not just facerolling over keyboard but I thought they were supose to be fun not annoying and sick-making.

Yeah, the other bosses were difficult, but they were fun. The guy with the gun that perpetually knocks you back until you die after he hits you once was annoying, but was beatable if you just don’t get hit the first time. Those two rooms before the last boss on that path were ridiculous, though. There’s no way you can beat those short of hope you kill a few and attack again. They literally all do AoEs and there are so many circles on the ground you cannot go anywhere because the hallway is pretty narrow too.

The pile of silvers/veterans is totally beatable. You need to grab the group and then run back along the cave tunnels. Share enemies or set traps. Eventually some of them will turn around and some will stay, so you’ll be able to thin the herd by repeating this method.

Abusing the leashing mechanics (which I really dislike in most cases too) most likely isn’t what they intended there. I admit it’s probably the only way to do it, but it really just seems weird.

I think some of the trash in dungeons need to have a bit less health. Not to be easier but trash should not take up my time. Give that health to the boss if you want, I’m in there to experience fun boss mechanics, not fight regular but super buffed mobs.

And on the topic of fun boss mechanics.. I LOVE a hard boss fight that takes superior strategy to conquer, but getting 1 shotted continuously is not at all fun and is hardly a “mechanic”. Especially on AC.. the first dungeon you ever encounter. Please look into this. (better dungeon loot too! less from trash but epic stuff from bosses)

Final Note: A team that has an extremely well thought out and executed strategy should not wipe at all, even on exploreable. This wont be a majority of the players, but the really good teams who have taken the time to get the right skill to beat a dungeon should not be punished because trash can **** their face.

Also, slightly on topic. The dragon events are way too easy and not at all fun. Please make harder and give better loot. They are THE bosses after all.

My team finished 1-st route with only a bit of trouble. To get past this room, you need to pull only group stanging most left. Other mobs will not aggro. Deal with this pack and just walk into next room sticking to left side of the room. You dont need to pull them all.
Guy with shotgun was also beatable, just kite him, and dont let close to you. If he get close though, just watch for his moves, it will be obvious when he raises his shotgun. Evade at this moment. Ele’s shield of reflection doing wonders here, when used at right moment.

We completed it last night. First thing we did was take off our clothes and sprint/stealth through the massive mobs. When we got to Frost we’d dive into the water and swim to the little cave that ends with an invisible wall. Eventually, all 5 of us got there. When we fought Frost one of us would stay back incase everyone died and come back to revive us when Frost leashed back after everyone’s death. After about 30 deaths and 50 silver in repairs we managed to kill all the golems and other BS that spawned and killed Frost, getting a whole whopping (lol, troll) 15 badges out of his death, bringing me to a total of 25 badges.

Arenanet, fix your broken dungeons, the reward is hardly worth the hair I lost that night. 2 hours of crap, about 50 F-words later, and all we got was 25 badges, some XP, and less money than we had before. Might as well just grind story mode because you get a lot more out of it, in less the time, for less the stress. Your dungeon team is terrible, plain and simple. Outstanding game, with a few minor bugs and a whole lot of fun and good times, and yet these dungeons are like the kid at your birthday party that sits in a corner and pouts because nobody wants to pay attention to him on your own birthday. It’s just plain bad. And this isn’t the only god awful dungeon- AC story mode was so horrendous and boring (a long, boring, tedious grind) I never want to even look in the direction the dungeon is on my map ever again.

I mean really, if you have to abuse crappy AI and locations that make you untouchable just to win a dungeon I don’t think Arenanet is doing it right, but that’s just me.

( Solution for Frost if you glitched/ran/stealthed past all the horde mobs) Anyone who’s doing this dungeon and wants an easy solution for beating Frost, have one of your friends with a ranged weapon sit on the dock ramp that leads into the water, and have another swim underneath him. When your friend goes down, revive them until their bar goes up and then stop so the bar goes back down. Keep doing this until your friend kills Frost with rocks- That’s how we did it and we won. At the last moment I had to jump up and do my whirly axe thing but eventually we stoned him to death and got our reward. Hope this solution helps anyone who fights Frost- it’s fool proof.

Three of my Guildies, a pug, and I beat this when we were all around level (45+). Everything in this encounter was pretty fun to a point. The shotgun boss was annoying and there was a lot of screaming (No daddy no, not the shotgun) but it was enjoyable. Even Frost was fun, when we got to him.

All in all the bosses were fun, challenging, but fun. Sure we had our wipes but it was the first time through the dungeon, and that’s what we expected. However the reason we have not even attempted to run this dungeon again is because of the CRAZY group of mobs just before frost… There has to be something that we missed, we ended up pulling the first group to the waypoint and would just rez and die until all of the group was dead.

We got our game plan gathered for the second group however, so we only wiped another 1000 times. I really hope that Anet does not think that kiting a large group until some AI breaks and the group splits, is a good mechanic…

All in all I agree something needs to be done there, however I feel like the bosses are fairly well tuned and enjoyable.

Sigh, I really wish people would stop trying to play this game like every other MMO. You just need to buckle down and learn the combat system. Once you do that, the dungeons are still a challenge, but they are not ‘impossible’ or ‘omg hard’ by any means.

Learning curve people, get used to it.

If anything… MAKE EXPLORER HARDER! I’d be ok if they toned down story mode (ez mode) if they thrashed the loot to get less.

Also I’d like a completion portions for dungeons. With special cosmetic gear for completing all the dungeons and explorer path options.

Some tl;dr whine

Oh yes, guess dungeons are just not for you, my friend. There is a device on top of your shoulders, which you should be using in these dungeons. A party of players in voice chat, knowing what their characters are capable of, some eyes and reaction – is all what you need here. Cry more. Personally I am glad to know, that dungeon armor is not for all and not easy to obtain.
Although I guess Anet needs to slightly drop prices of dungeon vendors (in exotic tab ofc).

Seriously ppl learn to read with understanding. It’s not that ppl play it like any other mmo or that they are whining “OMG! Boss is too hard! Nerf it now!” (personally I think some bosses need boost because some encounters are just ludicrous). The point is that there are this particular two groups of ~15 mobs all together from which 6 are silver and 10 are just plain mobs with aoe dmg that you can’t pull separately. When you pull all of them it’s around 3 mobs per player and let’s face it they don’t divide evenly so it ends with one player (usually the one who attacked first) have all of them on him. Yeah sure he can do 2 dodges and then he’s dead. And believe me I tried aoe stun, cripple and chill as ele and it didn’t work well:P
And to all of you that will tell me “Noob L2P” just go there, try it, capture how pro you are and how others are lame and then I’ll change my mind about that one place in this dungeon.

Why should I be forced to only succeed if I know a bunch of great gamers? To me it sounds like the “great” gamers only ever say “get better”. Why are the people who can do this all so very rude? If you are so great, maybe you should post tips instead of posting stupid comments like “cry more”. The internet has ruined all forms of communication… but that is off topic.

Good luck to everyone who keeps trying this. I can’t continue because the money I make, even when I do succeed, is always less than half the amount it takes to repair my armor and the loot is ridiculously bad.

Because with bad players you are obviously going to fail it, I guess? Or you want explo dungeons to be nerfed to boot, because some no-skill pug are failing it constantly?

I am not rude. I am only stating the truth. Let me get even more clear.
- You saying its impossible to get through this part of dungeon without over9000 deaths.
- I got through it with my team without over9000 deaths. In fact, it was easier than AC for us.
One of us here have better skill, reaction, and teamwork than other. Guess you figured already, which one. What else can I say to you, other than “l2p” and “do not pug”? Tips? But I already posted how my group overcome this particular room. What else tips do you need? Its not some super-complicated mechanics. Just cold reasoning, cc, and teamwork. Not going to bother to fraps it though. Too lazy.
