Caudecus' Manor dungeon - help!
Caudecus is, amongst many other, what is called a dungeon. These are instances where you need to go with a party of 5. Less than that is suicide if you have never done it before. Stick around in front of the dungeon and look in the chat for people looking for a group. They often do use cryptic language for beginners:
lfg : Looking For Group
explo, story: two different modes of the dungeon. If you have never done a dungeon, the mode you are looking for is story mode. Exploration is unlocked afterwards and is often more difficult.
p1, p2, p3: Exploration mode often offers more than one path. P1 means the players wish to follow the choice 1 when asked for the path.
lfxm: Looking For x More players.

Second to the suggestion about gw2lfg.com – use the group tags to designate yourself as a new player to the area and when you’re in party chat before entering, make sure that your party is aware. You want to make sure your group is OK with this and that they’ll take steps to make sure you don’t get lost, etc.
Very often, you’ll be part of a party across different servers, which means you won’t see them in Queensdale (unless they’re on your server,) but they should be visible on your map once you enter the dungeon instance.
Caudecus Manor can be a bit tough because there are lots of ‘tricks’ or exploits people use when moving through it (done for the sake of speed, which means nobody will explain it to you as it’s being done,) and the close quarters inside the manor itself mean you can walk into something bad before you see that it’s there.
It also helps to watch/read some of the online guides, at least for the explorable paths. I just finished acquiring armor from CM (which means I basically played explorable about 23 times to gather the necessary tokens,) so I’m fairly familiar with it. Feel free to ask me in-game, my primary is ‘Joan Of Argh’

I was willing to quote this website as well, but it was down at the moment I posted it. Be sure to look and use the “Group options” to find the right group. This means avoiding groups looking for experienced players or that are doing speed runs.
Edit: Schweinehund.7809 beat me to it, and his explanations are more detailed. Read the post above and disregard mine.

Love all the ‘experienced only’ and even the ‘no noobs’ comments in some of those, seems a place to go to meet friendly people.
Seems GW2 has the typical level-cap player attitude in abundance, reminds me of the BG site used by FFXI players.

The great thing about this website is being able to avoid those players. So that you have more chance to meet friendly players than when public grouping at random.

It’s kind of inevitable, but I don’t think that it’s particularly more prevalent on the LFG site than in-game; I actually found a great group for my first run-through of AC, there, and they’re now all on my friends list. Frankly, if I see anything that smacks of that kind of selectivity (i.e. exp. only, etc.) I look elsewhere. I’m pretty sure Historian Symon isn’t going anywhere, and I play this game for fun, not as a second job; I can wait for a group where people are going to be pleasant, or, God forbid, relaxed.
