Changing AP reward?
I’m almost sure that Anet will not change your reward, and if they end changing it, it will open a precedent to other players do the same.
There are a couple check boxes you need to click to confirm the reward and you accepted all them.
You should have thought before getting it, like I got a focus skin from the AP chests but later I saw that I had a better skin in my bank and I would love to change it for a bow or sword skin, but I know that it was an error of my part and I never thought in asking the devs to change it for me.

Only way to find out is to submit a support ticket. No harm done if it gets rejected.
Yes I’m aware one should think about these things but it’s not like you have days to mull it over. I don’t think I had even created all my toons at the time. Obviously it isn’t the end of the world if i never use a reward I chose. I was just wondering if anyone else had found themselves in the same boat and if ANet was kind enough to help out. It doesn’t cost them anything and they must have the ability to “overwrite” the skin so you are still left with just one.

I’m sounding like a prick but … yeah it would cost them.
The time the employ will take to read your ticket, then contact you, then check your items and change the choice you made will consume a time that they could be using to attend another person with a real problem, and that time wasted cost money.
Check the “account issues” sub forum, there are A LOT of tickets pending there, and that is just a really small percentage of tickets they have.

I’m QUITE certain i will not be presenting the most frivolous issue ever put before them. I have a valid question. Not only that, but I don’t recall asking for anyone’s opinion on how important a problem this may be. I was asking ONLY if anyone else had asked a similar favor from ANet and if so what was the response they received? Everyone else can simply carry on with their important lives.

Oh I’m sure they support team must get the most absurd requests you can imagine every day, yours would be far from be among the worse ones.

Belzebu does have a valid point however. Anet almost certainly pay their support stuff for the time they spend at work (as opposed to per job like contractors). So if they spend time working on addressing your ticket they’re being paid for it, and therefore it’s costing Anet money: time and money that could be spent on something else.
Especially if they did change it. It’s unlikely the support staff have the tools to do that sort of thing so they’d have to ask one of the developers to make the change, and then it’s time and money that would normally be spent on developing new content for the game that’s instead going to fix your mistake.
I’m not saying they won’t do it, or even that they shouldn’t do it. But it’s worth bearing in mind that creating, editing, even exchanging virtual objects isn’t free just because they don’t physically exist and have no value themselves and that cost does have to be taken into consideration.

I’ve sent a ticket in the past, and Anet replied that they will only change the AP reward if it was claimed no more than 24 hours ago, so if you ever get the wrong item by a mistake contact the support immediately

I really did not intend for this to be a debate about how much chaning an AP might cost. That is not the point, and I tend to get rather irritated when people cherry pick one thing, that has nothing to do with the original post whatsoever, and harp on it. If you’re here to tell me to the penny how much ANet may spend on making a change, which, by the way, I’m sure they do a lot for various reasons, please save yourself the work of typing it out, because I do not care.

True enough Mystic. However, I don’t have the opportunity to play much for long stretches at a time, so my AP creeps up slowly. I probably won’t hit the next big one for a long, long time, and it would be fantastic to be able to use the shoulders now. Believe me, if I could kick myself for choosing poorly, I would! But I have these hellfire shoulders just sitting there collecting dust, when I could be looking fabulous in some radiant shoulders. I’m really crossing my fingers that someone at ANet will be very kind to a sometimes-not-so-smart player I haven’t received a reply yet, so there is still hope!
I received a response this morning: they are able to change one reward, once on your account only, but it does have to be really recent (you need to have the date and time to give them). So they would have made the change had I realized my mistake early on. Thanks ANet, I appreciate you looking into it and I think the response was fast.
