Character Screenshot problem
Turning off post-processing should help.
Didn’t consider that. I will give that a try, thanks.
Any good lighting location suggestions?
It depends on what lighting effect you want and whether you want just the character pictured, or want a scenic setting. DR in daylight offers a lot of plain stone walls to stand against, facing many directions so you can deal with the sun angle.
Most of Kryta has pretty green foliage and blue skies and a “natural” sunlit look. Check up by the treehouse in Shaemoor for a quiet nook with a variety of views, or the various levels of the monastery in Queensdale. The grotto in the Grove is exquisitely lovely with its shafts of light; same with the Oumphalos Chamber and its stained glass. You can also get some pretty effects in the Seraph HQ, Throne Room, and chapel in DR (all north end of the park).
For more autumnal views, try any of the many ridges in Fields of Ruin. For wintry ones, Lornar’s and Timberline offer spectacular vistas.
And there’s one glorious spot in Orr, in Malchior’s north of Pagga’s, on the Pyrite Peninsula. I love that gold ball of light! Just make sure there aren’t inquest and/or elementals attacking just when you head for your photo shoot.
I love the shiverpeaks during the day for good lighting without influencing armour colours badly with random murkiness, especially timberline.
Standing on grey, rocky ground also helps, I’ve found grassy areas put a green tinge on your armour (especially metal)

Each major zone (Kryta,Shiverpeaks,Maguuma,Ascalon) has it’s own ambient color palette. Shiverpeaks is bright light blue, Ascalon is slightly orange but much more natural than Maguuma green, Kryta is the most natural because Anet loves humans. I haven’t been in the Silverwastes area of Maguuma enough to know it’s color palette though but it seemed more like Kryta to me.
The other issue is that you will ALWAYS have a shadow on your left and light on your right regardless of orientation with the sun/moon. However, if you turn your Shaders option to medium/low it will remove this issue.
Thanks folks, great suggestions.
I have been to all of your proposed locations in the past with the exception of the Oumphalos chamber, that one doesn’t ring a bell, will have to look that one up.
Now that you mentioned those spots, I will have to go back and revisit each one again.
Most of my shots have been in the Shiverpeaks during the day as suggested but the ice tends to put a reflective blue tint to my armor which I am trying to get away from. I will try standing on rocky ground to see if that cuts the ice reflection.
The shadow on the left thing I hadn’t noticed before, thanks for the shader tip
The Oumphalos Chamber is where the Pale Tree Avatar hangs out. Top of the grove, take a seed pod elevator to get into the instance.
