Guild Wars 2

Hello!

I would like to ask if the choice of gods, and factions etc. affects the gameplay at all? Will i get every racial skill with a race anyways, and the god i chose is only for “fun” and somewhat affects the story?
(+ im lv6, and i would like to buy living season2, do i have time to buy it till i get lv80, or it wont be available anymore when hot is out?)

I believe it only adds variation to the personal story and only like the first third of the PS. The second third of the PS is based on which order you join. They all lead to the same place and none of the PS affects skills or abilities, just story flavor.

The choice of god blessing you is mostly inconsequential; it affects a few lines of dialogue, but that’s it.

Racial skills are unlocked as soon as you get access to utility skills. They’re generally sub-par compared to your profession skills, but sometimes they can fill a niche while you wait to unlock other skills that would fill but are locked.

Season 2 is meant to be always accessible by design; don’t feel rushed to buy it when you won’t be able to play it for now (unless you think gold>gem prices are going to spike).

You’ll be asked three questions about your characters background during character creation. Two affect the level 10 and level 20 personal story chapters, one is purely cosmetic (I think it changes an NPC in your home instance and maybe some minor dialogue.

For humans the cosmetic choice is which god you follow. (For norn it’s which spirit you follow, for charr it’s your favourite warband member, for sylvari it’s which cycle you were born to and for asura it’s your mentor.)

All characters have access to all racial skills, and will eventually get enough hero points to unlock all their skills and traits.

And Living Story Season 2 is a permanent addition. You can’t play it until you get to level 80 but you can buy it any time and it should still be available after HoT is out. (If you know you want to buy it I’d recommend playing it before you play the HoT story, since it’s basically an introduction to HoT.)
