So I have 2 mediums and a light character. However, I’ve been trying to make a heavy for crafting purposes since it would be nice to take advantage of the heavy armor I would be making. However, I hate everything about heavy classes. And I mean I hate how they are designed. I don’t like playing them. Is there anyone who doesn’t have lights or heavies? Or even mediums? I feel awkward using a crafting discipline on a character that cannot take advantage of the entire discipline.

Why are you crafting heavy armor if you don’t have any heavy armor chars?

I’m guessing they want to max Armourer, but want a use for the discipline.

I really wouldn’t worry about it to be honest – you sound like you wont win either way. Either you hate having a heavy class or you will hate having a discipline useless to you.

If you want to max your achievements (for whatever reason), just go ahead: max the discipline, craft the armor and be done with it. If you have room (or a storage toon), hold onto the armor. Otherwise salvage it (for a really tiny chance at something valuable).

People have spent more money on less-useful things, so don’t worry about that.

What is it about the heavy armor classes that you hate? Other than not having viable healing roles, they’re fairly diverse in terms of play style and roles.

Do you have HoT? I feel like the Revenant plays more like a light armour profession than a heavy one. Not that the Warrior and Guardian are identical, but they’re more similar than the Revenant.

But if you just want to max all the crafts I’d say just go for it. Even with all 9 professions I don’t use any of them very often, but they do come in useful sometimes. And not just for making armour, there’s lots of other things that can be crafted by the same professions.

For example some components for Mawdrey and other ascended items can be made by an armorsmith, leatherworker or tailor but the recipes are slightly different for each and in some cases the armorsmith one is cheapest. And of course legendaries all require at least 2 crafts, one of which is not related to that weapon type.

Well the issue with the rev is the energy management. Then there’s the guard. When you pop your shield virtue the smart enemy runs away or buys time until your shield runs out. The war has stances and the enemy can do the same. The issue I’m having with heavies is sustainability. They seem to lean too heavily on offence and when it comes to defense other classes can outlast them. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

I felt like you do about heavy armor character. I do enjoy my Dragon Hunter. Have you gotten any heavy characters into their elite specs? It is really hard to judge any character until you can fully use their skills.

I don’t know if you are more into pvp than I am but I find my mace/focus guardian has plenty of defence options, and can certainly hold her own against a lot of pve mobs. She does take a while to kill anything so anything that regenerates can be a problem and give for very long fights. Part of it is learning to time the blocks so that they are effective against a specific attack rather than trying to use them for general defence. She certainly isn’t a meta build but that type of thing has never interested me I just go for what I find fun to play.

If you try the heavies with slightly different builds or weapon sets, you might find one you can enjoy playing.

I enjoy playing in 1 v 1 hotjoin maps, but pvp isn’t really my thing. What I do most of the time is roam around alone or with 1 other person and fight groups as big as maybe 5 or smaller.

I’ll give your idea a try. I have made a chrono build that focuses on blocks torment and confusion. So I’m sure I can do something similar with a heavy.
