Chat question...
I think it happens if you say close to the same thing, like if you say “thank you” a lot it may block you.
The spam filters are really odd and I’m not sure exactly how they work… however one thing I can tell you is that if you are blocked for excessive messaging, do not keep trying to send anything else! It only prolongs the filter on everything you try to send. Just to be sure I typically wait 3-5 minutes if it ever happens to me.
Time a repetition are both factors. It’s hard to say “Thank you” or some other simple phrases in so many different ways, but you have to vary your wording. Thank you, thanks, thx, ty, tyvm, etc… If it’s someone I can identify, I put their name in “Thanks [player name]” instead of just “Thanks”. Or “Thanks for rez”, to make it specific, etc… Even if you constantly vary your wording, the time factor will kick in and you’ll still get suppressed. And I agree that once you get suppressed, it’s better to not type anything for a few minutes and wait it out, rather than checking every minute or so.
Thanks for the information. I’ll pass it on to my friends so they remember to change up their wording from time to time.
I got squelched trying to list a wp for a champ event. This was a few minutes after the last champ event which I was able to announce and follow up with the wp.
Never noticed /say being squelched for TYs during the brawl.
