Guild Wars 2

I need to figure out the syntax for the whisper /w chat command. I have tried
/w name (name of player) and then <return> key. I’m confused about when to enter the message. I don’t know anyone in the game personally to try this on. Thanks in advance.

You want to type /w Name and then hit tab, rather than return. That will skip you over to the next text box, where you can type your message. Failing which, put in the name and then click on the second text box to shift your typing to there.
