Hopefully someone can lead me in the right direction. I am having trouble finding vanilla beans. They do infact drop from herb seedlings in the beginner areas though my issue is how many nodes are available and how many are dropping.

I spent an hour and a half last night running around looking for every node available. I ended up with 8 total. In many of my recipes, they require these beans. So am i now expected to continue with this horrible grindfest just to create these items or is there a place where i can grind for a bit and get some from loot bags? I heard theres a script that stops loot from dropping in areas as well after you have grinded there for too long.

So is this drop rate pretty horrible now? Or am i just looking in the wrong place atm? Plenty of butter and chocolate, not enough vanilla beans…

Btw, those 8 came from two nodes. One in metrica and other in caldea. Sorry for spelling, currently mobile

I haven’t found any as of yet, but then I haven’t tried to backtrack all the way to the starter areas either.

And not to digress, but I’d like an idea as to what drops chocolate now. Maybe I’m just that unlucky, but I can’t seem to find any.

I got chocolate I think it was from a supply bag from a centaur and I’ve heard the bandits bags are dropping chocolate. As for vanilla beans make sure you check every karma vendor you see for things a lot sell certain things in bulk for karma

As of the recent patch, vanilla was removed as well as others. I can understand why as it made leveling cooking pretty easy. Ive searched every forum possible thus far. Herb seedlings seem to be the only way to get them right now. Problem with that is, it broke cooking. Every other craft gets to salvage items and use them. That helps them level their craft. Drops come from everywhere.

Now, a main component in cooking has become rare. I would not mind gathering if i could walk away with 20+ for an hour worth of work, but 8? That is not worth my time. Add more nodes. Add loot bags as with them as you did butter and chocolate.

And yes, chocolate as stated above drops from humanoids, the west side of the world. Not sure what drops on the east side, definitely not vanilla…

Chocolate and butter do drop a lot. I don’t do any cooking so I usually just sell my items I find. Those 2 are only selling for like 2c each on the TP. So anyone who can’t find chocolate or butter just go buy it, it’s cheap.
As for vanilla beans, I haven’t encountered them once, but as some of you said you found them in the starter zones, I haven’t been back to those very much since the change in drops so that may be why.

Well it looks like im getting my answer then. Starter areas, two nodes, for my 8 beans a day…..

How long is the respawn rate?

and i guess ill just quit cooking for now. Level my toon up instead of working on cooking. If anyone has seen them anywhere else, please reply. 25 vanilla for 21 karma turns into 4 per node (only two nodes) respawn…….not right
