It would be easier to answer your question, if we knew how much materials, Laurels and Clovers you already have for your Dreamer to suggest which would be faster for you to get what you want.
So far I would say that you can not craft Laurels and that make them more harder to get (=valuable; as in only to your account) compared to Mystic Clovers which you can with some luck craft in MF (although drop rate from MF could be low according to GW2 wiki).
It looks like there are some PvP reward track which might give you MC:
Acquisition
Mystic Clovers are created in the Mystic Forge using one of two recipes and are rewarded in various PvP Reward Tracks. They are also dropped from the Chest of Legendary Crafting Materials.
As you can see, both are depending on what kind of activities you like to do and are to some degree time gated as both building up AP or PvP track take some time.
I would say maybe like 10% into it? Slowly starting out to get the materials and such. I’ve saved up 3 Chest of Loyalty since my playtime is only 3 months. Have around 75 Laurels now since I did spend some on ascended trinkets. So for now at the end of the day, 7 mystic clovers vs 20 Laurels which is better for me?
I would go for laurels for sure, it is a time gated item that you can’t get anywhere else.
The mystic clovers can be acquired in some PvP reward tracks, and crafting it rewards T6 materials if you fail and those are also used in the legendary crafting, so it is a win-win situation to craft it.

I guess I will go for the Laurels. Then I will go for Silverwaste chest farm for materials to promote. But but.. I also want ascended armor. Don’t know which direction to start first..arrggh.
Do ascended armor last. It’s appalingly expensive, and provides fairly insignificant boosts over exotic armor.
As for Laurels vs Clovers, go for the Laurels. 20 Laurels is worth about 20 gold, but 7 clovers cost, on average, about 10g to craft. The only parts of the clover recipe you can’t buy with gold are the obsidian and skill points, which can both be easily obtained by spamming a silverwastes chest train for an hour.
Always get laurels, with a tiny number of exceptions:
Laurels are the only item/currency on the list that cannot be readily obtained outside of the login rewards.
Laurels are easily converted into just about any other item/currency via the purchase of heavy crafting bags (and selling the contents). e.g. you can buy the equivalent ascended mats and have spare change (unless you get two cloth, which is very very unlikely).
There are a couple of exceptions:
If you are making a legendary right now and lack the necessary items for clover, choose the Chest of Legendary Mats. This very time efficient, even though it’s not economically efficient.
Similarly, if you hardly ever play and are currently crafting ascended items, you’ll need Vision Crystals and the Chest of Ascended Mats will save you a lot of time. (Frequent players won’t have any trouble putting these together, especially if patient.)

You can start doing the sPvP daily fairly quick in hotjoin/practice. This will net you a fair amount of stuff and a small yet decent amount of Clovers. Plus all the other loot such as tomes for days…
Do the Silverwastes Reward Track and Balthazar Backpack Box first. Little longer but one offs so nice to get done. Afterwards, or if you don’t care about those, can do dungeon weapon boxes/Glorious armor.
80 sPvP reward potions will complete a track or use them as you go.
Also don’t forget to pop a celebration or birthday booster for more track progress (ignores potions though) and use that char during the times call of the mists is active for even more progress (especially if you feel up to playing unranked).
Edit: Also get obsidian shards from spvp too. Not as many as silverwastes… still nice to vary what one does. Killing Teq at reset gives tons of karma if you need that.

True, most of the time they would be between laurels and tomes depending on what was needed. There are also vision crystals, so if you are running short on skill points that is a great option.
