Q:
Choosing a new profession
I don’t know if you’ll find a solution that’s “simple.” You could give Engineer a try. Very good ranged utility (traited for grenades you get good damage and 1500 range) and very useful in groups as well (can generate water fields for healing combos, has some useful ally healing skills, and with elixirs can generate boons and remove conditions at a decent rate).

I asked my guild and it seems they recommend a Condition Necro, that any good or they trollin me?
Condition Necro can be relatively simple to play, but you must consider the simpler the game play the more boring it will be. Is why I don’t like playing Condition Necro. Can’t knock it’s effectiveness though.
Cond necro is good. but since u like range, its wont be a choice for u. cond necro is more about throwing all 5 staff skill and then jump in with dagger to deal close combat dps. you can use axe but it only 600 range. scepter is ok but its dps wont be good.
if you like pure range damage like ranger, staff -fire element is awesome, has 1200 range and high dps + high crit.
another choice is mesmer with phatasma build. simply using GS/Staff, keep your 3 phantasmas alive to deal damage + your own dps. mesmer is more fun than element but its have utility skill so people will ask you to do things like portal them.
Element : high dps, high crit, squishy
mesmer: fun, high dps, clone help keep u alive,
necro : ok dps, slow with weapon, hard to die.

Why would a condition Necro drop all 5 marks then jump in with Dagger? I think you’re thinking of a Wells Powermancer since main-hand Dagger does ZERO condition damage. Condition Necro uses Scepter+Dagger and Staff.
Typical condition Necro is Scepter/Dagger + Staff, and often takes Epidemic. It’s ranged, AoE, tanky enough, and relatively simple. It may not kill as fast as other options though.
Engineer is ranged in focus and has a lot of flexibility – if you try one, play with the kits and see if there are any you like to give yourself extra skills and different options in combat.
For ranger, I will say that if you sink some points into beastmastery or even just level (and/or choose your pets wisely), you should be able to get use out of your pet without micro-managing. But if the style doesn’t suit you that’s fine too.
You could try thief, but I think thief works better jumping between ranged and striking in for melee (plus they’re super squishy). I don’t know necro well but it sounds like it’s definitely worth a try!

Just because an Engineer has possibly the max range potential in the game doesn’t mean they’re a range focused profession. Yes they can equip a Grenade kit and sit at 1500 range, but the vast majority of weapon setups have you getting up close and personal or are more effective the closer you are to your opponent.
Cond necro can be a really great and dangerous class. At least if you know how to use your conditions and how to use epidemic with the best result.
He’s definitely range, with no doubt. Fun thing is you can play necro on damage dealer on pseudo range using axe + fokus and staff (+10% dmg from staff etc.).
You might also take a look at mesmer. He usually stays far away sending all his clones and doing range attacks.
I vote for engineer. My bf seems to enjoy it more than his necro. His preference are warrior, ranger and engineer.
