Claiming your guild hall for small guild
That is around the amount of people required for claiming, yes. I can’t say definite amount but my own experience of claiming Gilded Hollow was that we failed with 3 people and succeeded with 5.
What is the absolute minimum you can complete the claiming your guild hall event? We have a very small friends guild and was hoping we could do it with 4 people. Is that possible?? We were thinking of doing the lost precipice.

It depends entirely on how aggressive the four of you are in combat. If you can dish out enough damage in the time provided, 4 is enough. It also helps if you’re familiar with the events — I highly recommend that the four of you help a larger guild take the same hall or at least be prepared to restart after learning the ropes.
I helped claim a hall with a group of 8 mostly-inexperienced folks, two of whom were suffering from lag/RL. We had trouble for the first event and a little on the second, and after that, it went really smoothly. I’d guess that four of us could have managed it if we had to.
Finally, there’s no need to limit yourself to a party of four. Divide into two teams and ask for help from /map or /LFG. There are a lot of people who want to see how it’s done (and missed their guild’s claiming event) plus others who just like to help out, and even folks who themselves need assistance to claim their keep and would love the opportunity to make a trade.

Note that Anet’s official stance is that 4 people don’t constitute a guild, that was stated in some blog about Guild Halls, so they don’t intend for small guilds to be able to get back what they had in the original game .. we’re expected to ‘slum it’ in the Guild Initiative Hall.
My guild unlocked it with 5. I’m not sure we could have done it with less.
We tried with 3 and failed miserably. I recruited a few non-guildies and did it with 7 easily. I’d recommend no more than 9 as it will limit the number of random vine spawns to one. At 10 you will get two.
I duo’d Gilded Hollows with a friend for my personal Guild. He plays a Warrior and I play a Herald. Didn’t really have too much issues with it. I had more of an issue when trying solo for the challenge of doing so, as the damage was barely a bit too low to burn through the vines. The boss in the end is incredibly easy if you range him.
I wouldn’t rule out that it is possible to solo too, if you use food buffs and Boosters perhaps. But at the very least, 2 players can claim a Guild Hall. That much I am certain of.

My guild took Precipice with 8 people once everyone had updrafts. I helped another guild take Gilded with 7, then helped a guild take Precipice with 5 (and one didn’t have updrafts so he worked some miracles to get to the vine spawns in time).
What you don’t want to do until you have a lot more people is go over 8? 9? because when you do it scales up and you have to deal with two spawns at once. If you keep it more compact, the whole mess of you can run to each spawn in turn and that can make the difference to taking out the vinetenders and vine inside the 5 minute limit.
