Guild Wars 2

Hello everyone.

At start im kinda new to the game.
And Im struggling in between Ranger or Mesmer class.

I’ve played over 60 spvp gmes, with half of them as ranger and other half as mesmer.
Done both chars to 15+ and still can’t decide who to play with.

Im aware of that Rangers are in kind of weak state now due to bugs and overall low dmg of lb&gs but class itself seems so fun to run with greatsword or longbow/short bow and doging around.

Well to the point.
I can’t chose class cause I like em both to much, but i have no time doing them both to 80 so i would need a really good adive from 80 lvl players out there who play any of those 2 classes.

My concenrs are :
1)is ranger dmg really so low and they are unable to kill anyone in wvw?
2)how do ranger handle dungeon apart from constant pet deaths?
3)how bad is surv at higher lvls with ability to solo veterans/champions with ranger?
4) what classes is ranger struggling with ? in spvp i’ve been running with sb burst/cond build with arrow pierce so apart from mass bleeds i’ve been dyin a lot…
5) hows leveling on higher lvls ? in low lvls with 6 armor pieces and 6 siff power runes + bloodlust sigil it seems so easy that i could do lvl 20 mobs at 14 lvl…
6) is longbow really such a bad weapon ? i’ve read a lot of complains on forums, tho in game most of ranger i’ve spoken to seemd really happy…

and for mesmer:
1)is mesmer aoe really that bad with all that tagging ? in lower lvls i seem to not have this issue but im with full power runes/10 into power traits so my dmg is kinda high…
2)how hard is to solo veterans/champions as mesmer?
3)what classes do mesmer struggle in pvp?

And overall,
1) hows mesmer dmg compared to rangers ?
2) which one brings more utility to spvp/wvw/dungeons? well apart from mesmer portal ability ofc..

My Ranger is 59. I don’t pvp so don’t know how they are in that area. In dungeon’s I did great, just stow your pet when you’re not fighting anything…they tend to stand far from you and will aggro stuff. I can solo Vet’s super easy, Champs I can’t (those of equal level). Tried longbow, but prefer shortbow, axe/axe.

My Mesmer is 27. In my opinion it lacks in aoe, but that doesn’t affect myself in events. I’m always getting gold. Soloing vets is easy once you learn how to play. I was downed sooo much before I watched a few videos. Completely changed my gameplay, I rarely get downed now, and can take on much more. But again, I don’t pvp so can’t answer those questions.

Mesmer damage, imo, lacks until you get a few trait points going, get good weapons and learn how to play. It takes more then mashing 1 button (which was pretty much what you did on Ranger, imo). It’s more diverse, I think.
