Class choice uncertainty...
I suggest that you look up a bunch of WvW roaming videos of the classes you think you’ll like. They may show tactics and combos you didn’t know the class was able to accomplish. That way you can sort of see the potential of each class and see which would best suit your playstyle (and a class has way more than one playstyle in this game). Plus a lot of them are fun to watch. Here’s one for guardian I looked up while making this reply:

I just searched for ‘gw2 wvw guardian’. You can also find these kind of videos by checking out the class forums. Lots of players post their roaming videos there.
edit:
Also, you can enter the spvp lobby by clicking on the cross swords icon on the top left. You will become instant 80 (only in there) and have access to all weapons, most skills and most gear. It’s a good place to try out every skill a class has.

I had the mind problems as you have, I was never sure what profession I really wanted to invest a lot of time into. What helped me finally narrow it down was I took a look at the list of Legendary Weapons and decided to pick one that I wanted to spend all that time getting/the one I wouldn’t mind looking at all the time and went from there. Petty I know, but it’s a part of the game…the farming for your nice shiny weapons and I didn’t want to end up spending all the effort getting the one weapon that the profession uses the most because I had to, not because I wanted it. It helped me narrow my choices to either thief or ranger (as I want the PonyBow). Take a look at the equipment and skill style of each profession…as you will have to look at this over and over for hours.
Nothing wrong with having a bunch of alts either
The tip about going into the Heart of the Mist was a good one. I went in there with my guardian and set up my favourite build (healway guardian) and tried a few pvp matches with it and decided NO, HELL NO! Guardian is not my thing haha………… @Rabid Smiles: Thats a good idea!
However after scratching guardian I decided that I wanted to try something I have never played before to challenge myself and I think I’ve settled on Thief. It’s got a steep learning curve but I think the stealth and evasiveness of the class really fits the way I like to play. I don’t like fighting in the thick of it all. I would rather jump in deal damage and condi and jump out to give myself time to think of another action to take. Also Thief has always kittened me off when I fight them so if I hate them why not join them?
