Class help
From what I hear, Necromancers have a lot of trouble in group PvE in the later game (I haven’t gotten close to this point yet). Mesmers are really difficult, especially early game, but if you can figure it out then it’s really powerful. If you can handle the bajillions of pink butterflies on your screen, go for it. Warrior is just strong in any situation, so that’s definitely the safest bet if you’re only looking at how “strong” a class is, but then again EVERYONE plays one, so…
Also, when I’m saying “one class is strong” or “this is not strong,” I don’t have actual numbers to back me up, and the actual difference may be quite minuscule.
Fun is a very subjective word.
PvP is normalized so make all 3 and see for yourself. As for PvE you’ll get a feel for the mechanics of each from PvPing, and that may be enough to seal the deal for you. Aside from that you may want to look into dungeon meta builds for each.
I love mesmer – at lvl 80
Until lvl 80, it was a struggle even before anet decided to screw up the traits with having to unlock them by doing events all over the place and having no access to Grandmaster traits until lvl 80 and it certainly isnt better now.
Don’t get me wrong – mesmer is a very fun class to play in the end, but it takes alot of frustration and slow running to get to that point.
DPS Benchmarks, Raids, Low-mans etc.
I love mesmer too, but I had fun leveling them, at least under the old trait system. I didn’t know they were supposed to be hard. Mesmer is definitely more fun with traits than without so not until at least level 60 under this new trait system.
I play PvE. This is the order in which I like the professions:
mesmer > elementalist, ranger > guardian, engineer > warrior > necro, thief.
