Clay Pot gone missing

You can’t salvage it, it’s not sellable as junk and you need 3 total clay pots to finish Mawdrey. If you accidentally put it in your bank (and your bank is full like mine) there is a search bar at the top that you can type in “Clay” and it’ll show you where your pot is.
Otherwise you’ll need to contact support like Yargesh suggests.
@Yargesh I already did yesterday but no reply so far.
@khani Yes, I used the search (see above) but it wont find anything.
It amazes me how you guys use support for the most silly things ever. Support should only handle real account/billing issues not missing items that you accidentally displace/delete. *rant
I hope you find your clay pot

It’s not silly if the person thinks that a bug was responsible for the loss of an item (as sometimes happens).
For the OP, you might want to use one of the websites that uses an API key to securely display to you the contents of your bank and all inventories of all your characters. gw2efficiencies.com, among other websites, can make it easier for you to search.

That’s an awesome tip! Thanks a lot!
The API does indeed say there’s no item called ‘clay’ or ‘clay pot’ on any character or the bank. Really weird. It finds other items correctly.
I’ll post what support said if it seems relevant to other people.

Is there any chance that you might already have used the clay pot? Or could have sold it? (You can check your TP history, using the API-validated sites or in-game.)
Regardless, that sounds annoying.
Keep us posted and good luck.

I definitely didnt auction it away, and for the other possibilites see the initial post. None of those is technically possible afaik.
Support now send me a new pot since they were able to “verify the acquisition of the Clay Pot”.
I asked them if they knew what had happened and they told me the item got “discarded” somehow.
Quote:
To clarify an item discarded can be the following reasons: salvaged, deleted, sold to a vendor. Pretty much getting rid of the item.
Since Clay Pots cant be salvaged or sold to a vendor, only plain evil destruction remains. I’m pretty possitive I didnt right-click my only clay pot, choose “Destroy” and confirm that action by accident. I’m not on drugs. So I guess it was a bug, or the pot got lost in one of the recent disconnects. We’ll never know.

Well, I’m glad you got a replacement regardless of the reasons. (Although had it happened to me, I would have preferred the opposite: finding out what happened to the pot, since that is easy-enough to replace. Then again, that’s my particular compulsion — to understand why stuff happens.)

I asked support if they knew the reason and they said ‘no’.
What else can I do?

If you want you can send a bug report. Support helps people resolve issues. They aren’t the people that redo the code to fix bugs.
ANet may give it to you.

And how could people who read that bug report (“I lost an item and dont know how”) tell what happened to that item if the official ‘Guild Wars 2 Support’ says they’re technically unable to do that? They got even less data and no access to my account.
I dont think that would do much.
The devs who are responsible for working on bugs would have access to any logs the game makes. Support may or may not have access to those but it would be irrelevant since they are probably not something a typical support person would be able to interpret correctly anyway.
