Confusion Questions: Help me understand
Also forgot to mention that since the last patch my combat log has only been showing about half of what is actually happening which makes it almost impossible to accurately test things right now.
Wow thanks for moving my thread to players helping players otherwise known as where questions go unanswered or where good threads go to die.
my second question: If I use a condition removal skill does the confusion get removed first or will it do damage for me activating the skill and then remove it?
Confusion will trigger once before being removed.

Confusion does damage for any action, that includes utility skills as well as your dodge roll if your dodge roll has something attached to it like spawn a clone, heal you, drops calotraps.
It also does its damage before the action is completed so if you are trying to heal and you dont have the health to survive the confusion damage before your heal health is applied then you go to a downed state.
In WvW I have had confusion tick as high as 4500-4750 depending on the stacks so its good to heal early.
Go find Diplomat Tarban in Brisban Wildlands then wait for a guild to engage him as part of guild bounty. When fighting him, it was pretty much constant 6 stacks of confusion. death happened in about 2-10 seconds depending on if was able to stop attacking and heal in time.
confusion deals damage when you attack, and it’s multiplied by how many stacks of confusion you have on you. so if 1 stack does 800 damage every time you use a spell, 6 stacks does 4800. then if you attack 5 times in 3 seconds, that’s 24000 damage in 3 seconds.
I don’t know anymore specifics, but I have noticed that healing does not trigger it, and dodging didn’t seem to for me.

yes any action including utility and healing and also condition removals, before it gets removed. but unless you got very high stack most healing skills will heal more than you take damage
