I can’t find my friends through the contact option. Before I bought GW2 my friend gave me a list of names and a server to look him up when I got around to buying GW2. I have a problem adding the names brought up random names that loosely resemble my friends characters names but are obviously the wrong characters. I’m obviously doing something wrong.

So if I got this right you haven’t added the right account to your contacts yet?

Ever tried using the ID name?

perhaps you have the wrong name? if you have the name of any of his characters you can add friends through that method or through the username.#### way

What applekwisp already explained, if you see here on the forums we all have a name with a number behind it (mine being Fay.2735) this is your definitive contact name in game. Everyone has one if you add these contact names of your friends to your list they should appear correctly.
