Content disappears?
It does not disappear if you have simply logged in to the game during the time it was “active”, it will stay unlockable for your account later
The Silverwastes is a new zone for everyone, whether they have episode 5 of the living story or not. You will always be able to access this, as would someone starting in a few months time.
If you’ve logged in this week you’ll have access to the episode 5 story content, which is a series of instances within the Silverwastes and other zones, as soon as you hit level 80.
That’s how it used to work during Season 1, which ended in March 2014. Although they also used to up-level anyone who was below the necessary level for the zone so everyone could play it.
But since Season 2 started all the Living Story stuff is permanent. There’s still some temporary content or events like the Halloween update or WvW Tournaments but they repeat every so often so you don’t miss out completely.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
In season 1 of living story was like that, content was temporary, if you didn’t do it when it was available, it was gone.
Starting from season 2 it works differently. Everything that is added in living story is permanent content and here to stay. The instanced pieces that advance the storyline and achievements related to it need to be unlocked (account wide), they’re unlocked if you log in even if it’s for a couple of seconds while it’s live, if you don’t, you can unlock them for 200 gems each release.
Everything added to the open world (which for the time being is dry top and silverwastes) is meant to be permanent and open to everyone, regardless of whether you unlock them or not.
So, no rush, the areas will still be there when you hit 80..
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
Silverwastes is independent of the Living Story. As long as you log in at least once during the time a Living Story chapter is going on, you will have it unlocked for when you do hit 80 and want to do it.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

Actually if Silver Wastes works like Dry Top (and I assume it does) you don’t need to have the story unlocked to go there.
Dry Top works like any other map, as long as you know where it is and you’re high enough level to survive the trip (or have friends to help) you can just walk there and once you’re on the map you can play all the open-world events, open bandit chests, map the shoulder pieces etc. just like anyone else can.
The only thing you need to unlock is the story instances.

Yes. I suppose my wording implied otherwise? When I said it was independent of Living Story I meant you can still access it even if you don’t have the LS unlocked. And if you do have it unlocked, you can do the LS at your leisure when you hit 80.
Either way Silverwastes is open to everyone.
