A friend told me the best way to do this is to buy orian trinket boxes or something of the like. I’m not interested in any items from karma vendors.

Is this true? If not, is there a better way?

I think the boxes are indeed the best way to turn karma into money. Also don’t forget all karma boosters and such because those boxes will return a lot of karma while you open them. They have a chance to drop valuable lodestone (charge lodestones are 3g) and other goodies.

I think that’s the only way to get gold from karma. The karma items can’t be sold (just tryed to sell a karma mace I bought some days ago), and the orrian box gives you more karma lol, high level crafting materials that you can sell for tons of money (or 30 silver or so), junk (you can get money at least), some potions and the miniature (I dont think these can be sold)

It’s worth the try if you are not using the karma for something else

Orrian boxes are the only reliable way to extract the most gold from the most karma investment. Dump in 250 × 4550 karma (a stack of boxes) and you’ll reliably see an easy 4-5g return on investment, mostly on…. junk. Lodestones aren’t as reliable from the boxes because of their small chance drop rate, and ironically nor are any of the potions, even though they’re exotic drops, because of their commonness they’re worth only a few silver on the TP.

The best thing about the orrian boxes is that you’ll get karma back to you in about 4 different forms ranging from a drop (400 karma each) to a swig (3000 karma each) and as it turns out, you won’t lose that much karma on your initial investment; conservatively about 20% when you use all the karma items, again depending on how much karma you spend. So it’s a pretty good way to rinse/repeat karma use if you have nothing else to spend it on from all those events.

what you can do actually is buy exaudic weapons and use the mystic forge for a 1 exaudic but that is one of the worst ways to turn karma into gold and yes as many other people have said orrian jewlery boxes are the best because of a chance to get load-stones. i pulled out a charged after 3 boxes.

Every karma vendor in Orr (Straits of Devastation, Malchor’s Leap and Cursed Shore) has these boxes.

Just keep in mind that Karma is never been intented to be converted to gold. You can get a lil bit of coin out of the boxes and they do yield the highest rate, but it is still very very little.

e.g. an exotic chestpiece with a rune of balthasar and the same (sorta) stats as the temple karma armor from temple of balthasar cost bout 3 gold.

So that means 42k karma for an item worth 3 gold (roughly and if you could sell the karma armor).
so 1000 karma = 7s142c (if you could sell it)

Opening 100 boxes means you prolly make 5 gold max
so 455k karma equals 5 gold (with boxes)
This means:
1000 karma = 1s
Bottom line…you are trowing away a lot of karma and I would only do it when I have absolutly no use for karma in any other way. Specially cause stacking it up doesn’t mean it’s wasted. Who knows what use it is going to have in the future.
