It’s a laptop, just curious if I’d be able to run fraps to record some pvp videos.

Windows 7 64bit
Intel Core i7 2630QM CPU @ 2.0GHz (8CPUS) ~2.0 GHz
6144MB RAM
GeForce GT 525M
102GB of free HD space

One very important thing to think about with FRAPS is your storage speed. Fraps uses uncompressed raw video. That means 50+ MB a second depending on your resolution. MB = megabyte, not Mb = megabit (as is used with network connections)

Also, FRAPS has a free option, so why not just try it out?

I personally run the Enjin client http://www.enjin.com/client
For me works extremely well and its free. The website promotes it as publishing to your site and stuff, but all the videos and pics save to your PC and you don’t need an enjin account or anything.

For fraps to run extremely well, you’re going to need a lot of HD space. Recording at 1080P at 30-50 frames for 1minute, will result in 3.95 GB of data.

You need fast “Sequential Writes” for fraps. The age/what you have left for storage will gradually bring reading and writing speeds down.

Recording to a separate standalone hard drive is what you’re going to need to even run it at a decent frame rate in game. The new Seagate’s have probably the fastest sequential writes and are the biggest bang for your buck as far as performance goes.

So really. You “could” run fraps. But it would be complete crap

pretty much sums it up, but also, your GPU wouldn’t be capable of giving you good FPS on decent settings if you use FRAPS alongside it. but yeah, if you’re looking to upgrade, custom build

It’s a laptop, just curious if I’d be able to run fraps to record some pvp videos.

I strongly suggest you use Dxtory, it’s the best video recording software you will ever use and it beats all current competing software.

It’s simply the best of them all, has tons of settings and whats so good about it is the feature to change codec.
