was playing WvW and ran into a ranger from an opposing server in the middle of the map. i defeated him in the 1v1 duel and he was downed, but before i could finish him off…he LOGGED OUT/ teleported away! what the F!!!!
why the heck does the game let you do such a thing? that’s just stupid preventing me from finishing him off and getting my badges.

Because you didn’t keep him in combat (if he teleported away?)
Disconnects are a bit more difficult to handle.

i killed him “the first time”, ran up to him and got knocked back by his pet or something, got up and before i could reach him he had gone poof.

no…there was noone else nearby, and i ran around there for a while to make sure he hadn’t just hidden away somewhere nearby.

Maybe he can’t afford his repair bill… lol.

I’d much prefer this to being left to die when the game has ‘network error’ though. It’s bad enough having to wait in the queue all over again…

so you’re calling logging out to avoid getting finished off “outplaying”? you consider that a valid strategy? really?
so it would be completely fair if everyone you’re about to kill just logged out instead?

also didn’t day it’s unfair “just to me”. it’s akitten mechanic for anyone.

Well, Rangers don’t have any stealth abilities that I can recall. The game may have considered him as being out of combat after he knocked you back and he just warped, that’s about all I can figure. Unless he just ragequit and logged out, which ANet really can’t do anything about. They can’t glue angry people to their chairs.

well they could make it so you’re not considered “out of combat” while you’re lying on the ground slowly bleeding to death.

well they could make it so you’re not considered “out of combat” while you’re lying on the ground slowly bleeding to death.

What I’m guessing happened is that he used his pet to revive him before warping. If it let him do that while downed, it’s definitely a glitch. He probably got brought back up by his pet and warped that second.

But like other people are saying, he might’ve just had a bad connection and got DC’d.

or he managed to heal up with bandage before you got to him and warp out, thats possibility too. ofcourse depending how long it took to get to him, or like someone suggested, thief invisibilityed him and they both ported off after he ressed? or mesmer popped illusion of life (for 15sec your alive again, then your “downed” again unless you killed something during it) though in that case i dont see why they didnt gank you if it was 2 of them

Of course they can’t. They can glue characters to the world for 5 minutes post log out like oh every MMO ever.

Badges are useless who cares.

You didn’t get your 1-2 badges. So what ?
He probably alt-f4ed and can now wait for a couple of hours in the awesome queue.
You both lost. Get over it.
