I’m new to GW2, so question is do i need to craft weapons/armors or just buy them from Trade post?

You can do either one – you will generally find that crafting is the better option, as it will help you level up quicker AND provide you with the items that you need….although generally, you will find that you are never at the same level of crafting and player level.

I tend to never buy weapons and armour from the trade house, as normally (especially at a lower level) the items that you get from random drops / class quests are more than sufficient.

I’m new to ,, but from what i seen n doing is buying my weapons n armor off the merchants in the city they go up every 5lv’s n looking for rare stuff on the trade post.

i believe with crafting u have to get ur lv up high to start making the really good stuff

I haven’t bought a thing from the trading post. I sell a lot there but haven’t bought anything. I farm for the crafting mats I need, and pick up gear from other sources. Whilst leveling you can get pretty much everything you need from Karma vendors, story progression or drops.

Thanks, decided to go with crafting, coz it’s more interesting collecting etc.

Gear is pretty cheap on the trading post, I often buy armor (even though I am @ 400 leatherworking) just because if I don’t have the materials it’s usually cheaper to buy the items than buy the materials.

Of course I could not be lazy and just farm the stuff which would be the cheapest option.

It is a game, and it depends on how you would like to play it, imo.

If you´ll like to level up fast, crafting will help doing that. After all, worlds first 80 did it by crafting, though supplied with mats from his guildies.
If this is your approach(being lvl efficient) crafting is the way to go and your only worry should be what to do at lvl 80..

Crafting, imo, is also just fun to play around with, mainly due to the discovery system.
At the end of the day, I think its a matter of taste and which kind of approach you have to your gaming time.
Whatever feels right for you, is right for you.

I do a bit of both, just for the fun of it.

At the moment, there’s tons of decent gear on the TP going very cheap, but that’s not going to last, so I’d recommend just buying a new set of cheap blue/green gear every few levels and levelling crafting so you’re ready for when it will have more importance.

The cheap stuff starts fading out at around lvl 30 anyway, so just enjoy the boon while it lasts!

Crafting is what you should do. I just reached level 13 with an alt of mine who is an elementalist, and i gained 3 whole levels just by leveling my crafting from 10-13 with materials i gathered while leveling from 1-10, and now i have some great items currently and for the future.
