Okay so i am fairly new to crafting and i have never done it before but i’ve heard it is one of the fastest ways to level. I havent decided what class to main as i have tried out all the professions. Mainly cause i havent really gotta passed level 20 cause it feels boring at early levels.
I would like to craft one of my professions way up to around level 40-50 where it then becomes more fun. Thing is idk what to craft or how much gold it would cost me. Could anyone teach me how to craft or whats the cheapest stuff to craft to get me to around level 40-50

Crafting will cost you about 8g for 10 levels.

While it is the fastest, it’s only an expedition for the privileged.

If you would like to level up relatively fast, you can always go to World vs World (keep symbol at top left) where you can easily get to level 20 in one day (full day) of playing.

If you want to PvE, you can get to nearly 20 in one full day of playing if you map complete every town, then map complete 2 starter zones.

If you want to test out skills, you can go to the Heart of the Mists (crossed swords at the top left) to test out everything your class has to offer except racial skills.

Crafting is a fantastic way to level – when used alongside play. I know you can just use crafting to push you up the levels but I personally wouldn’t recommend it. If you craft regularly as you play, it will provide a nice bit of extra experience and you can gather materials for it along the way, rather than just bulk buying your way up the levels.

It depends on what kind of player you are, though. If you’re new, you’ll need materials; if you’ve levelled through the game before, you’ll have a lot of it already and be able to level crafting faster. Cooking and jeweller in particular, I find, are really easy to level if you’ve already gathered a lot on previous characters.

So 8g for 10 levels would be the cheapest?

It takes a little getting used to, but when in doubt, look for a group (try the blue commander icons on the map) and go help with whatever they’re doing. You can follow others until you know what’s going on, and safety in numbers. Besides which, there are regular enemies and events in WvW too.

Most crafting is pretty expensive if you don’t already have a lv 80 who is earning their gold from dungeons, world events and farming. To get the cheapest crafting methods, have a look at http://www.gw2crafts.net/ and go to the totals section.

If you’ve been collecting ingredients along the way, cooking can be dirt cheap. I recently got 10 levels on an alt by levelling cooking and it cost about 40 silver after selling back the food and unused components.

Curuniel has already given some good advice on WvW, and anything else about it you should pick up by running with the group for a while.

One last method I’ll mention is dungeons, as completing each path gives 70% of the experience you need to your next level as well as extra money and dungeon tokens (which can be used to get cheap exotic armour and weapons at lv 80). Ascalonian Catacombs is a lv 30 + dungeon and I’d recommend going through as many of the paths you can each day while levelling.

I got cooking done in within 20 mins with under 2 gold. I couldn’t link you the guide here. But look up a guide that uses “all heart materials”. The beauty of this method is you don’t have to go do the heart quests. Simply go to Labyrinth cliff and round up all the necessary mats from the karma merchant. The rest is not expensive at all.

Jewelry and artificer are the next cheapest but still 4-5 times more expensive.

Edit: it’s the guide mentioned above.
