My friend just started playing and I wanted to craft them a weapon.
Problem is: I’m lvl 80, they’re lvl 5.

Is there a way for me to craft them a weapon at or near their level?
I’m not trying to give them some uber-weapon, just a little incentive to keep playing.

Sure, Weaponsmith can craft weapons for level 5 player. Thing is, you don’t need any special weapons at level 5, you level up so fast that you would need new weapon every 15 minutes. And the stats on weapons at low level are very similar no matter how much “better” one weapon is. Unlocking and learning all those new skills and traits you gain has much more effect then any weapon.

Honestly, green weapons are fine at least up to level 60 and after that you can pick up some rare (yellow) weapons from TP for few silver.

Yea honestly, if you have the mats just sitting in the bank, you can whip up a lev 20 set of armor and weapons, and then toss in some lower level greens from the tp to add that incentive. I would say 15/18 slotbags would go far too. I wish some one had given me bags when I started.

You can craft for any level, but as people already told here, it is probably cheaper to buy on the Trading Post since they cost a few silver for green and blue gear. Later on in game if you level your crafting profession to at least 400 you can craft exotic gear as well. If you want to craft your own ascended gear you must level it to 500.
