Hi guys,

I was noticing how expensive leather is (like holy crap). I am not a rich player.

Given the time & investment a set of exotic marauder will require, it seems like I’m better off putting those efforts into an ascended set & just doing this once.

Is that pretty much right?

You’ll save gold yea but if you think exotic gear is too expensive to craft then you have another thing coming for ya when you try to craft a medium set of ascended armor

Agree with above post. Ascd armor is a metric ton more expensive. You’ll do fine with exotic armor for raids(I do). You’ll only need Ascd for fractals; it earns good money and they are surprisingly fun.

I would skip the exotic marauder and simply wait till you can make ascended. In the meantime, you can get cheap exotic easily from a variety of sources: dungeon tokens, karma, pvp tracks, wvw, tracks, or off the Trading Post. It might not be marauder, but you can mix and match some different stat armour to get pretty close to the same effect.

The difference between exotic and ascended for armor is negligible. The only reason to craft ascended armor (as already stated) is for the infusion slots for agony resistance in fractals. That’s it. If you are going to craft ascended for non-fractals, save the money for weapons. Better return on your investment.

If you are doing fractals, then there is no question at all that you should craft ascended.

I agree that weapons come first, but if you’re going to put any kind of effort into your build and movement every inch of stats is noticeable. I’d just get some various karma exotics and mix it up to come close to the stats distribution I’d want and save everything for the Ascended set.

Also worth noting that if you do decide to go for ascended, cfrafting them as marauder’s is insanely expensive. Instead craft them as pre-hot prefixes(like berserker or carrion or whatever) and then use exotic marauder insignias to transform them in the mystic forge.
