So, I was window shopping and saw in the last tab of the Laurel Merchant these boxes.

Chef Starter Kit.
One time account purchase. Double click to open.
Consumable
Unique
Account bound

Now, no-one can have bought one yet as they cost 3 laurels, but does anyone have any information on them? For example why ‘one time account purchase’. Or has there been anything said about the contents?

Maybe in a few days someone will have first hand information to add here.

well he posted 16 hours ago as of 12:00 CET, whihc would be around 20:00 CET WAY before the daily reset :P so only 2 would have been possible at that time

This is the only additional information I have seen on these boxes since the patch – as someone says, people may be buying them today with thier 3rd laurel so I’m sure it won’t be long for confirmation. Perhaps check the crafting forum to see if anyone there has posted about them.

Indeed, I did post yesterday evening, when even those blessed with extra chance could not have had 3 laurels, let alone us who actually had to sleep a few hours at night.

I am curious about these, because eventually there will be a new character joining my team, but also curious if they would be worth it for those who already have every craft mastered by some alt or other.

I assume they just give you enough raw materials to reach a certain level of chef (like 125 or something)

It’s probably not worth it for anyone who already has them maxed.

Keep in mind the laurel prices seem high now, but for someone just starting out, it would only be 3 days before they could then buy one to boost their new characters crafting. So it’s probably designed around those people, rather than us level 80’s.

Just a bump because I’m interested in knowing what the heck is in those things.

I really don’t see the need for ArenaNet to be secretive about them. We’ll know soon enough in a few days so why not have the information available in the game in the first place.

Oh wait, ArenaNet. I forgot. In-game information is not their Way.

Less than inspiring I have to say. I agree a crafting boost would have made it more appealing. They’re a one time purchase per account so why not include that? Heck they could have made it a ‘minor’ crafting boost than only gave 25% higher chance for bonus XP.
