Guild Wars 2

This is something I’m finding quite frustrating.

In Guild Wars 1, we had a bank tab specifically for storing crafting materials.

It was basically a list of all crafting materials and when you dragged something to that tab, it said you now have 1 Diamond instead of 0 Diamonds, to choose an example.

But as far as I can tell, we don’t have a tab like this in GW2.
And my crafting materials are taking up so much space, one of my characters is having to hold half of what I found just to free up bank space.

And this means they’re not capable of going out and playing the game, since their loot bag is 90% full!

And then there’s the food items, for cooking.
Like Crafting, these should also get a seperate tab, to ease the pressure on the general items tab.

They do have that, it’s the Collections pane in your bank. From your inventory, there’s a couple ways to send crafting mats straight to your collection. You can right click on something, and pick “send to collection” from the pop-up menu, or you can click on the little gear icon at the top right of your inventory window and select “send all materials to collection” (or something like that, don’t remember the exact wording off hand). Handiest thing in the world. You can also transfer items directly from inventory to the collections from any crafting station or bank.

I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but…

In your inventory at the top right is a gear icon. Click it and select Deposit all collectibles. This will put everything that is a crafting material into your bank without having to access the bank.

Then, from any crafting station which you can access, there is a bank tab, where you can access crafting materials from a tab on the left side as well.

Since you don’t need crafting materials in the field, and do need them when you’re at the crafting station, it’s working out great. Yes, you have excess items in the bank for certain crafting ‘ingredients’ which aren’t gathered materials, but that’s called ‘choice’ and is so nice that they include some downside to crafting besides making it pure ez-mode (it is, but… not 100% ez-mode). So you have to think if you want to make 500 of some item that will never get used in anything in the future, or if you want to choose what to make before actually crafting everything you have access to craft. It’s sweet. Choice is good.

I’m still confused by those items above though.
It says they’re crafting materials, but I can’t do with them what I did with all the others, for some reason.
The option to “store collectible” doesn’t appear when i right click.

They’re sitting in my main bank at the moment.

Those items are part of the crafting process for some recipes. Indeed they cannot be stored like the gathered materials, and yes, they will occupy bank space.

Yeah there is also a limit on those stored materials, only 250 of each. I hope they increase it to 500 or something reasonable since crafting requires a boatload of materials. I went through 371 copper just trying to experiment so i can get new crafting recipes. I shouldnt complain though because I’ve seen worse for storage space in previous mmo’s
