Crafting celestial armor
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Bit of a stupid question but before I go and waste a bunch of money on the TP am I right in thinking I need to buy the recipe for the Celestial Intricate Gossamer Insignia and the individual recipes for each piece of armor I want to craft?
So 7 recipes in total if I want to make a full set of light armor?
Secondly am I also right in thinking these only came from Zephyr Sanctum Supply Boxes, so the only way to get them now is to buy them from the TP?
Not a dumb question — the game is horribly inconsistent about acquisition of stats.
- Yes, you need to collect your own recipes; most everything for celestial remains account bound: charged quartz, recipes, insignia|inscriptions, and of course the gear itself.
- The only current source is the Zephyr Supply Boxes, which cannot be purchased at this time (presumably some people hoarded them).
- Fortunately, most of the recipes are less than 10s.
Thanks.
Account binding isn’t an issue, I just got confused because I knew I needed a recipe for the insignia, then I noticed celestial gloves were already on my recipe list and I couldn’t quite work out if it was two different ways of doing it, two different kinds of celestial gear or part of the same process.
I know the recipes aren’t expensive, but I’d still rather not buy a bunch of them if I don’t need them.

Celestial gear i just found is extremely time consuming to make so much so that im thinking about not even bothering wit my Ele and making a completely different class since it takes a minimum of 30 days to make a full armor set of exotic Celestial gear, and that is not including weapons/trinkets its extremely annoying especially since Ele relies on cele gear so heavily to roam and stuff, which is what i wanted to do
It’s 30 days if you want to craft the full armor set. You could still buy the Ascended Celestial trinkets with a combinations of Laurels/Ectos/Badges of Honor. Check between the PvE and WvW vendors for differences in prices if you’re interested.

As for Ascended Celestial Backpieces I think “Quiver of a Thousand Arrows” and “There with Yakkington: A traveler’s Tale” would be the cheapest to make. I haven’t tried crafting a “Mawdrey” yet so idk how much that would cost.

I’d avoid the Six Gods backpieces (Dwayna/Grenth/Lyssa) which will cost at least 250-300g to craft depending on what mats you already have. Same goes for the “Tempered Spinal Blades” which I recently made another of and cost about 300g+ with my bad luck on Watchwork Sprocket forging.

It’s just the charged quartz that’s time-gated right? In my case that won’t be a problem, I’ve got something like 90 of them from the home instance node.
Also I’m not in any rush to get this done. For one thing I’m going to be making my second Triforge Amulet for this character (it’s part of her theme) so it’s going to be a while before I’ve got a full set anyway. I’ve not decided yet if I’m going to get an ascended backpiece, although I am making Mawdrey and I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it so that’s one option.

Yea, a daily conversion of 25 Quartz → 1 Charged at a place of power (Obelisk Shard). I’m usually just get too lazy or forgetful to visit my home instance to harvest. It might be a good idea to stock up and leave an alt by the entrance for easy access.
If you haven’t already got the charged quartz crystals I suggest you craft the ascended celestial armor. Because both the exotic and ascended is going to take a long time to make so you might as well make the ascended. That’s at least what I did.
I really don’t see why the celestial exotic armor is time-gated. The time-gate should be for the ascended only in my opinion. I mean it’s already harder to get since you cannot farm a dungeon for it.
