I tried searching this but can’t find it.

I am lvling my ranger with Huntsman and leatherworking (leather is hard to get but not the problem) in my huntsman I am lvl 72, everything I can make (incriptions) is green to me, I have discovered some recipies but all are now grey. I need 8 tiny claws or 8 venom sacks etc… to create the green. Very little exp, will take forever and those items are hard to come by.

All recipies I can buy (karma) that I have seen are for lvl 150.

did I miss something?

Thanks

The best way to level professions is my discovering new weapons/armors, which you do by taking the inscription of your choice, then putting that and the two components for an item (example: padding + armor for shoulders), the result is a new magical weapon or armor which should give you 1.5-3 levels per discovery.

Pretty much the best way I’ve seen to level per tier is get the first 20 levels smelting/refining items, then make the rest discovering new weapon/armor combinations with inscriptions/insignias.

If you already knew this… Well, not sure what else to do to help you.

Ya, thanks, I has discovered quite a few by doing that. But they are grey now, it is just the last few skill points to hit 75. Just thought there may be one I missed that or can buy that is still good exp, to hit lvl 75

You gotta stick with discovery, I doubt you’ve done every combination of inscription/weapon and even if it would be grey once you’ve discovered it you still gain a good deal of crafting exp just from discovering alone

My biggest leap in crafting levels came at discovery. Even items that would be grey on a normal crafting make, would still grant quite a bit of crafting levels.

I was stuck at 50/75 until I figured this out.

For instance in Leatherworking I’d make 6 chest pads/ 6 chest plates (I think is the names) and then 1 of each inscription – Precision, Vitality, Power, etc etc.

Then I’d do discovery on all of them and got quite a bit of crafting xp. I went over 75 and now heading towards 150.

Aside from the tips I have to say that this crafting model is very well done. Am impressed.

One interesting thing with Discovery is that you can still earn crafting skill increases on recipes that are grey (would otherwise yield no experience if crafted repeatedly).

It’s exactly like the others have said: Discovery is how you get your real crafting skill increase. Each buff type that you learn (insignias, gems, etcetera) usually can net you 3-4 chances for large skill increases.

If they are yellow recipes, they can be up to a 2 skill level increase. Whites yield 1 – 1 1/2, and greys (recently greys, I think) can get you about 1/2 to 3/4 skill level increase.

Every 25 to 30 levels usually give you another set of buffs (usually 4-5) to learn. Set up for them by getting your ingredients ready. Build armor parts, and when the time comes for the new set, head to the discovery chamber.

This isn’t WoW. You can’t simply spam your way to a new skill. You’ll waste a LOT of money doing that, and you’ll be disgruntled when you walk up to the crafting table.

Once again: Discover your way to quick skill levelling.

Quick tip for discovery. Add all of your usual mats to your bags: Jute, Leather, Wood, Metal but also add all of your other items from your Collectibles Tab that are craft-worthy like Claws, Bloods, Dusts, etc. As well, add any items that you’ve picked up in the world and stored like Silver, Doubloons.

Then once you’ve opened up the discovery panel, all applicable items for that craft will appear to be used.

Ultimately what I’m saying is if they aren’t in your bags, they will not appear in the discovery panel and you could be missing a chance at discovering something.

Best of luck.

I still don’t get how its grey. I still have a orange discoveries as I draw to a close at the end of that tier… Maybe it’s something to do with the level 0-75 tier, which I don’t remember much due to me floundering around and discovering everything myself (so much wasted mats…)

There’s usually two sets of insignias/inscriptions you can make, the first three (claws, venoms, and fangs I believe?), then you get another three or four using the fine crafting materials that weren’t in the previous. After that, you’ll get inscriptions for all of them that require 8 materials. Make the 8 material inscriptions and find discoveries with them by combining that with the two components for an item, and you should be set.

Amor: Yup at lvl 70 everything turned grey except the incriptions which are green.

PPson: I agree that I haven’t discovered everything

Sporadicus: If it is true (I read it right) that if you discover something that is otherwise grey yet yields good exp, that’s what I need to do. Thanks

Thanks everyone for reading and posting.
