Crafting is Useful (for a change)
I agree – I’ve been doing leatherworking, huntsman, cooking and jeweller on 2 different characters and I’ve found them all useful, engaging and fun.
I love the complexity of cooking especially, and the whole getting exp from going down a crafting route is great.
Perhaps my only complaint is that you can’t craft directly from the mats in your collections area – as it feels a little clunky that you have to do these big drag back and forth sessions (for cooking especially) when you’re trying to discover things with different combinations of all of your materials.
All in all, great job though, Anet. That goes also for the game as a whole.
I don’t think crafting in this game compares to SWG. But it is certainly better than most other themepark crafting is. Hope end-game crafting is relevant…
Oh, I didn’t mean to suggest that it capared to SWG crafting, wich in my opinion was the absolute BEST crafting ever in an mmo. Just that the GW2 crafting has been useful so far, and enjoyable.
I was actually an uber weapon smith in SWG. Fifth master weapon smith on kauri…. Ah, before children, those were the days when i could really immerse myself in the world. Now I’m mostly immersed in RL. Not so uber in RL though. Heh.
I am just happy that I get XP from crafting.
I always used to find it a chore while leveling since I was not progressing my level.
