i was thinking about crafting quip, and i wanted to know from those who have already crafted it, roughly how much money did you put into crafting it?

Not everything can be bought with money. When you buy all things needed to get your legendary (any) you spent almost the same as just buying it directly.

I’m not going for Quip but am working on sunrise (only need the precursor).
My first advise is to plan ahead and to not focus on one thing at a time.
Try to use your resources and your money and time things right.

The first things I would recommend are getting the obsidian shards, the T6 materials and the globs off ectoplasm. You need 250 off each T6 materials (so 8 times 250), 480 obsidian shards and 480 ecto’s (on average, can be more depending on your luck when making the clovers.

The shards are not for sale, so make sure that for every shard you can get you also get 1 ectoplasm and 4 t6 mats. Use all available resources, not only money for this (so also buying t6 bags with laurels, salvaging yellows, buying yellows with laurels/guildrecommendations (gearboxes), and using laurels to get shards and. Also make sure that in the process you need a lot off wood (4 highest tiers, gosammer and orichalcum. So dont sell them but let them pile up.

When your down with the ecto’s/shards/t6 mats complete the mats needed for your gift off wood and gift off entertainment. If needed you might need to buy some mystic coins as well, but they are not very expensive.,

After that you need to collect enough gold to buy the icy runestones, and perhaps tet the gems for the 5 boxes off fun.

For the chaos gun (precursor). Anet announced that soon you can craft your own. But the exact date is unknown as well as the process. After you get the gathering materials, You can start using all your crafting materials you gather (not buying) to make exotic pistols. Also do dungeons to get pistols. Use those to throw into the mystic forge when you got 4.
