I just finished up creating my first character and when prompted to name her I cannot find a single name that is not already in use. How do players handle this in game? Do you just make up a last name as well and make it short enough that it fits. Or do I add numbers/symbols to make it slightly different. I have never played this game before so I have no idea what tactics people use to get around this roadblock. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend a last name, yes. The last name is also nice for people to recognize you on your alts. If you keep the same last name for all your chars, that is.

Thanks for the response and the last name idea is pretty cleaver. I ended up doing a last name and got a name that was not already taken. If I ever make other characters I will be sure to keep the same last name.

or u use the opposite way and always take the same name and a changing lastname.
for example i use the LotR language sindarin to give my chars lastnames pretending on their class

You can also add Lord, Lady, Madame, Mister, Duke, Duchess, or any title to the front end of your toon’s names to give you more options.

The best way to get a name that isn’t taken, regardless of length or number of words, is to use something unusual. I like using Welsh, Latin, Quenyan or Sindarin words, but ones you’ve made up yourself can work as well.

The only one I’ve had trouble with was my asuran because I wanted a lore-appropriate name for her, which meant it had to be one or two syllables, have the same letter twice in the middle and end with a vowel. I must have tried about 20 different names to find something that I liked which wasn’t taken.

…but last names are a pretty sure way of getting the firstname you wanted I’ve never had any problems using both first and last names.

Baby name websites and online translators make for some fun names, as long as you don’t mind being the only person that understands them.

Sometimes having people ask about your character name is a good conversation starter.
