Hi there.

I hoped to see some settins for culling, as happened with it on WvW (number of characters shown and their quality), but I haven’t been able to find anything about that. Am I just blind or they haven’t added an option for that?

In case it’s their fault, I really think they should add it because many people wont be able to play properly without culling when having so many people around them… even I notice it, and I have a fairly nice PC.

Thanks!

PS: They added an option to remove/lower the AoE gfx effects too a few updates ago, right? I can’t find it neither!!!

1. The PvE culling settings are tied to the WvW ones, but they haven’t updated the description.

2. The spell effects adjustments is automatically done apparently (who knows why they done it that way).

PvE uses the same settings for culling as the WvW ones

Actually I thought about that and tried to lower the number of characters shown, but that didnt change anything for me… I guess there wasn’t enough people to check it or something.

Thanks!

I think calling the Player Model options “culling” options is confusing as they actually have NOTHING to do with the server side process of Culling. They turned Culling OFF so nobody has any control over that feature (and actually never did).

Now how exactly the user setting for the Player Model options sliders now work is something I’m not entirely sure of as they have recently changed them and the update notes are not real clear (they imply they only took the WvWvW text off the setting name).

Have you read the old blog post about the WvW settings and/or the tooltips for the settings?

Seems pretty clear to me.
Model Limit controls how many people show up as actual characters and the rest show up as just nameplates.
Model Quality controls how many people are displayed with the normal character models with their real armor, dyes, etc with the rest being displayed with the generic fallback models.

It also uses the fallback models if it has to load the assets for the real armor so that could make the settings seem slightly more confusing.

Right, but that blog post IS old.

I’m not sure those definitions still apply or if they are slightly different with Culling turned off. It’s not like they have never altered anything before and not put it in the update notes.
