I am returning to the game after about a year away. I have over 400k karma and started leveling a new character. I got it to level 35 and strolled down to the cultural armorsmith all ready to buy some tier 1 yellows when lo and behold I find out these items now cost gold instead of karma? When did that change? Are there still cultural vendors somewhere that accept karma?

If not, is there any real point to accumulating karma anymore?

Armor has always been sold for gold. Weapons are sold for karma.

You can get Temple Armor (Lv80 exotics) with karma, and, of course, it’s one of the methods of getting Obsidian Shards (and probably the easiest among them). Also, cultural weapons, as mentioned above. Hmmm… some novelty items (people love their Quaggan tonics)…. some mid-level skins, if you don’t want to roll dice with drops…. aquabreathers all the way up to Lv80 greens… and some of the ascended recipes cost karma, if you get crafts up to 500.
